We had a wonderful stay!
The room was tatami modern- spacious and lovely. We were greeted warmly with excellent and appreciated English, and served tea. The public bath was quite hot.

Fabulous
Everything was wonderful!! All staff were friendly, kind, courtesy and warm. We could experience nice Japanese culture. Big Bath Tub "Daiyokujo" at B1, Japanese traditional breakfast, the room floor "Tatami" and Bed "Futon".... All things impressed me. Thank you for "Japanese OMOTENASHI".

What an experience
A great traditional experience. Incredibly friendly staff and good amenities. Be prepared to push your limits a bit - try the hot bath and traditional breakfast for sure. Good neighborhood to explore, and walkable from the station if you've got some time (or take the city subway to a couple blocks away).

A cultural experience
Great experience - the rooms are what we were expecting - traditional Japanese at a ryokan in the sense that your bed is made after dinner (some ladies come into your room and remove the futons and duvet from a closet) and set up your bed on the tatami floors. You can choose to include breakfast and dinner in your rate - and both are amazing experiences. The food was very good, although quite different and sometimes strange for our palates. The service is excellent - everyone at the hotel was very helpful and very nice.

Amazing experience all around
This was the best hotel we stayed at in Japan. The service was amazing! You get yukatas in your room and nice gift bags. There is a hot bath downstairs: even though it is not an onsen-- it is very pleasant and relaxing after the day of seeing the sights. Walking distance to downtown and all the shopping as well as to the Gion district. Very close to the subway line and 2 stops from Kyoto station. Highly recommend: a great experience! The hotel staff is absolutely perfect! They even helped me to tie an obi for my yukata when I was planning a night out in my newly acquired outfit! Any questions we had --they always were extremely helpful!
