A great place to immersed yourself to Japanese culture and hospitality. It is clean, breakfast was excellent, typical Japanese breakfast, the beds were comfortable, and thank you for the parting gifts.

Great location. The staff are what make this property special. They went out of their way to make us comfortable and feel welcome. Great people, property and location. I would definitely stay here again. Rooms are well appointed with everything you might need.

Their hospitality was exceptional and cannot be beat. This is the best experience I've had at a foreign accommodation, a perfect balance between remaining cultural but still welcoming to foreigners. The location is really close to nishiki market and some of the best shopping and dining in Kyoto. We were also able to get to Fushimi inari by karasuma oike and Jr nara line which was a life saver because it was raining and there were no cabs at 7am.

It was a nice short stay with just a couple of nights. I do however feel that the rooms are pricey and a bit of a walk (10-15 minutes) from main road and attractions. Noise was also evident from other rooms. The room was however spacious and staff very courteous and experienced the Japanese hospitality first hand. If I were to however take a second trip, I would choose another ryokan closer to Gion.

Despite the language barrier, the staff was incredibly hospitable and very warm/kind. Little gestures and greetings, welcome drink, small gifts and smiles made this property very welcoming. Great Onsen and location to walk for meals and shopping.

Very nice ryokan in the heart of Kyoto. Well located with respect to Nijo Castle, the market, and other attractions. Staff are very friendly and the kaiseki meals are excellent. I would definitely recommend this place.

This is a Ryakan : Japanese style hotel for a real japanese experience with futons and tamami mats It is very nice with japanese bathropes and japanese meals. For the price it could be a little more sophisticated but it is nice for being right in the city and close to metro and bus stations
