Great location!
Overall I really enjoyed my 8 night stay here. Hot tip: when you arrive, don't scale the Plimmer Steps, (20 of them), with your heavy bags. Instead, enter from AMI plaza, (yellow sign, about 20 meters away), and use the escalator there. Once you arrive at the top, simply make your way thru the plaza (10 meters), then pick up the Travelodge elevator. Reception is on the 7th floor. I found the reception staff to be quite helpful throughout my time there. The same can be said for staff at breakfast. The breakfast was tasty, with enough options, tho pricey at $24, about $16US. The room was quite stuffy when temps were above 23 Centigrade. The rooms lack AC, so they offered a fan, which made the room more bearable, but not comfortable. As we head into autumn this will be less of a problem, but in summer look out! My room was serviced after 4pm, which was a problem for me, since sometimes I want to return to the room to relax or take a nap in the afternoon. This may have been due to the fact that I stayed on a higher floor, but to me it shouldn't matter. ALL rooms should be serviced by 4pm, period! The location was very central, but I experienced very little street noise. However, as in many hotels, the room doors automatically slam shut, making quite a racket. Finally, I'd like to inform North American readers that the down under Travelodge is not the same one we know. It's a different company, and is more upmarket than in the States.

Nice location and clean room
No AC or fan, but a fan was brought in on request. The location is very central to the city and we walked everywhere. If you're only parking over night, just pay the machine for $4 and not the hotel for $25.

not bad if you like city life
just overnight waiting to catch an early morning plane home to the US. Staff was very helpful when we couldn't figure out how to turn on the lights (you need your room key inserted into the light switch for it to function). However, they failed to give us our requested early (3:30 AM) wake-up call, and we had to get out and on the curb in less than 30 minutes... We almost missed our shuttle to the airport. We enjoyed the walk around the area - having dinner at a local hang-out, and then enjoying a drink and music down near the docks. (There was some type of festival starting the night we arrived, so there was a lot going on.) The Travel Lodge was in a good location for that.

Great location!
The room was clean and the staff was very friendly. Even though initially hard to find, the location is perfectly located to Wellington sights. So much is within walking distance.

And, so to bed...
More than adequate as a base for exploring Wellington for a few days. Only negative tho' is also a question for some others in the business: why promote online choice of a king bed when you actually provide two larger single beds bound together by large sheets, but with a defining valley/ ridge down the middle? There is nothing wrong with a queen and not getting what you feel you were promised can leave a nasty taste in the mouth. I for one never feel disappointed if I get what I paid for and I don't like being conned. Lovely staff in all our interactions however.
