Anniversary trip
Great Hotel. Over water bungalows are the best. Staff is very helpful. Pools and beaches are also great. On the downside, main dining room is average food at best and very expensive. The transportation provided by the hotals is twice the price of the local taxis.

3 stars max
We stayed there twice: when we arrived and when we left Tahiti. It's the nicest hotel near the airport BUT not a 5 stars hotel as expected. On our first stay, I upgraded us to a sea view room. The room was nice and charming but a previous guest (or a previous previous guest) left meat in the fridge, the smell of rotten was horrible!!! We went back to the reception and they gave us another room, but that room didn't have balcony so back to the reception. They were nice enough to upgrade us to a nicer room. Room was nice and comfy for 1 night. On the way out from Tahiti, we stayed in a garden room (lowest category). Much smaller, very old and close To some musical entertainment on the main place next to the hotel. In general the hotel is nice, old but with a certain charm and probably the best option to stay at if you need to catch an early flight or arrive late. The issue is mostly in the details, for example during our first stay, the wall in the toilet facing the toilet had urine on it. Not that lovely when you're sitting doing your business with your nose in dried urine. 2nd example there was a private area hair in the bathtube in our garden room... Not so welcoming! I believe the management should do more follow up and checks before we use the rooms.

Convenient and Wonderful in Papeete
We spent our first night in French Polynesia at the Intercontinental mostly because we had to because of flight timing, but we would happily spent a few more days. This is a very well maintained resort that is literally 5 minutes from the PPT airport. It is very convenient, beautiful, and has a great staff that will work hard to meet all your needs. The food at the resort is good, and there are lots of things to keep you busy on site. Most notably, they have basically fenced in a small natural lagoon so that guests can have a great snorkeling experience right next to the swimming pool. This is a well-run resort that will leave you happy. We will be back.

Hardly a quiet getaway
Checked in for just an overnight as we were coming off island and had an early plane flight to LAX. Used rewards points and scoured the Internet to find the best hotel on the island. At $300/night for a standard room, I expected it to be similar to what we saw on Bora Bora or Moorea. Instead it reminded me of Honolulu in 1992 or what Epcot Center would do if charged with making a Polynesian-themed land. Jets fly low-overhead every 30 minutes or so, very close to the airport. Outdated and tiny hotel room (12x15ft bedroom, 6x10 bath), unusable beach (waves too strong), a main bar & restaurant that looks only good for tourists to stuff faces while watching a cultural dance performance. They did build a safe Lagoon to swim with tropical fishes, and there is a second pool that looks a little more fit for adults-only. Nice views of the sunset, but Moorea is in the way. Lots of hotel-hosted activities, and looks like it would be good for bringing kids or large groups (like a family reunion). A plus side was that we were less than 10 minutes from the airport. The overwater restaurant, Le Lotus, was not overly spendy for a resort ($30-50 USD for entrees), and the best meal we had in all of Polynesia! If you go, bring kids.

Great location for Tahiti Transit.
The reason we stayed here was that our flight back to the U.S. Left very early in the morning so we had to fly in from Bora Bora the day before. This hotel is not Bora Bora or Moorea, but it's still a very nice resort, and perfect for a day or two stay on Tahiti. The pools are nice, the staff was great, and the rook was nice and modern. They even had a very small, but good, complimentary breakfast set up for those taking early morning flights out with toast, pastries and coffee. The great thing is the location, very close to the airport makes for a very quick taxi ride to the airport. If you have a late night flight in, or even better an early flight out. This is a good place to stay for the afternoon and night before.
