Clean and functional—no frills.
This hotel is in what appears to be a former school. Rooms are small, clean, and functional. No wi-fi. Breakfast was okay but nothing special. I was glad for the coffee machine. Hotel is close to the baths, which are nice. We drove 10 minutes north for dinner on a dairy farm, which was quite good. I might stay in Laugvartn again, but I wouldn’t stay here.

Not a good stay, unless you have no other choice.
This is an old building much like a dormitory, with terrible heating, it was freezing in August. The shower was broken and you had to hold it together to use it. Telling them didn't result in it getting fixed. The shower had a slime like film on walls and floors. The bed may have been decades old. The restaurant was awful, as was the food, and they forgot my meal completely. Breakfast was good. Service is terrible. They might be on a lake, but it's not worth the view. We will never stay here again.

Our lakeside room was spotless, comfortable, and had a fabulous view. Nice breakfast, too. Would definitely go back!

I would not go back.
This is convenient to Golden Circle area, but it is a very basic hotel. It looks like a college dorm room. The whole place had a very bad odor all the time. The fire alarm went off at 2am, which turned out to be a false alarm. The breakfast was average and I had to pay extra for it. The hotel staff speak English well, but not too friendly. We booked a triple room but they put us in a double. We had to go back to the desk to get another room. Wifi only available in the lounge on second floor-not very convenient. I would probably try to find another place if I were you. The problem is, there aren't too many places around here to find. It is out of the way, so if you find anything around here, book it.
