Off the road to Kimberley, B.C., and worth a stay.
St. Eugene is an older hotel with a casino (non-smoking). It is in good condition and is a nice hotel with a great cocktail lounge and restaurant with delicious food and friendly service,. The pool area with two hot tubs was nice but the water in both could use some regular cleaning. Our double bed room was decent, though I had to leave a note with housekeeping to replace the coffee pot, leave some Kleenex, and repair the toilet seat. (Remember to leave kind notes so they actually know what needs to be attended to for you and the next guest.) My husband said the golf course was great; but remember to bring the mosquito repellant!

Exceptional hotel. The main hotel is in a historic building, the affordable rooms are attached to a small casino. Nice room, comfortable bed, restaurants on site, secluded location. A refreshing change from standard chain hotels. Check out their website.

Losing its Charm
It seems the casino has been severely cut back as the machines have very few free plays, and scant winnings - and I do not go for big stuff, just enough to be able to play longer than 10 minutes. Many other people comment on this as well. This has been our favorite place for a few years but is loosing its charm, because the rate for the room is high, and it seems there are no more "deals". Since management has changed, it is just not the same and we did not get a room with at least two queens as promised..

Beautiful wedding destination ---- service??? not
Three weddings were booked for my weekend. I was a guest at one of them. The Hotel was understaffed, they put us and another party in the same room for 'meet and greet' (ie. double booked). They ran out of food for the brunches. The Reception bar had only a minimal choice of drinks - the hosts had to complain and get them to get more choices. Seemed to be very unorganized confusion. Weddings book long in advance so they should have been prepared.
