Grand Hotel Wagner, Palermo
Best luxury choice for foreign tourists.
We stayed at the Wagner for three night upon our arrival in Palermo and at the Centrale Palace for four nights when we returned to Palermo. The Centrale Palace has a somewhat better location, and it has a restaurant. On all other scores we preferred the Wagner The Wagner is beautiful and, unlike the Centrale Palace, it is very well maintained. The Wagner has no restaurant, but there are several very good ones within a ten minute walk. The breakfast is more than satisfactory. The service is erxcellent. The two men who staffed the reception desk could not have been more helpful or more willing to help. As a foreigner who can speak just a bit of Italian, I felt welcome and cared for, not simply tolerated.

The rooms were very small. There was almost no surface areas to place personal items. While we later found out that larger rooms were available, there was no suggestion for an upgrade on the part of management. The service was excellent.

A Grand Dame
Lovely hotel, nice breakfast and dinners. Location is good, a short walk into the center of town. One complaint though, their wifi internet is horrible. Looses connectivity always and very slow response times. Totally unacceptable for a Modern hotel! Otherwise a nice place.

Grand, and not so grand.
The hotel is very grand in its decor, though some of it is in need of repair. The service was excellent...warm and friendly, and the area was pretty good, compared with some other parts of the city that are somewhat seedy. I was disappointed with breakfast...everything sits out for a long time and the eggs were always cold, as was the tea water. Apart from that, the room was small, but comfortable, with a little balcony which was nice.
