Great hotel, if no Construction
Auberge du Vieux-Port is a hotel that is charming, comfortable and centrally located in Montreal. Unfortunately, we were not informed by hotels.com that the street the hotel was on had construction happening on it which meant we needed to keep windows/curtains closed and it was work from 7am to 5:30 pm making our stay unpleasant due to loud noise. Since we were on vacation, we would have appreciated knowing this before we booked the hotel, since we are not able to get refund. Had we known, we would have booked another hotel instead. If there wasn’t any construction, then we do recommend you stay here as the staff at the front desk and restaurant are great. The staff on rooftop lounge bar lack in customer care. I do recommend you call any hotel you find on hotels.com to make sure no construction or other activities happening that can impact your trip before you book hotel room.

Love Love Love the Auberge!
My husband and I visited Montreal to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary and, having stayed at the Auberge twice in the past, this was the obvious choice. The hotel staff could not have been more welcoming or lovely, and even helped us to celebrate the occasion with a gift of wine in our room and a glass of prosecco in the bar. The room was wonderful with a gorgeous view of the river; and we were only minutes from the Port where we had tickets to see Cirque du Soleil, so could not have been more convenient. Dinner at Gaspar was excellent and our server was top notch (we send our congratulations as he told us he would be celebrating his 10-year anniversary shortly). The soaking tub and incredibly comfortable bed were icing on the top! A thoroughly wonderful stay-- we will most certainly be back!

Beautiful hotel, perfect location, a few issues
Overall we really enjoyed the hotel and it is a perfect location, right in Old Montreal. We walked all over from here and it was easy. Furniture in rooms is dated or a little cheap, but the rooms have a ton of charm and beauty. There was a lot of street noise in the morning due to construction to repair St. Paul Street. This was out of hotel's control, but if I were them I would have left a little card or small thank you for putting up with the construction. Also, the curtain rod was only attached with one screw, it fell and hit my wife in the head very hard. She had a large lump and had to lay down for a few hours with a headache. I told the staff, they were very apologetic, and fixed the curtain rod. Again, it would have been nice for them to do something to say sorry, comp a drink, leave a card, comp a night of parking, leave a snack, really anything. It took away an entire afternoon of our trip, because my wife was not feeling well. That being said, I liked the hotel a lot and the staff were great. I would stay there again, but there are also a lot of choices in Old Montreal. The small touches of saying thanks or sorry would have guarenteed that we would have come back.

Beyond our expectations!
We stayed here recently for our anniversary. They upgraded our room and left a bottle of champagne for us to enjoy, It was truly appreciated. Hotel was beautiful, cozy, and romantic; with an excellent hotel staff who were helpful and friendly. Location was convenient to major attractions and plentiful dining establishments. Would highly recommend this hotel.
