Housekeeping on day of checkout

My roomwas upgraded on arrival at hotel , which wzs a nice surprise. Check out was at 11am, however housekeeping knocked on my door at 9.30 then again at 10am. I explained i would be checking out shortly and they seemed surprised. I Would have thought housekeeping would know which rooms are checking out so no need to knock on the door beforehand. I was made to feel i should be rushing to leave my room.
