Outstanding
Outstanding location just a block from the waterfront. The breakfast was first rate. The bed was comfortable. The bathroom was clean and the maids did great work.

An aura of faded glory
This hotel is only a couple of blocks away from the shore and cafes and shops of central Picton, and has some fantastic views of the harbour. That being said, the hotel itself needs work. The staff were great, but the hotel itself had its heyday 30-40 years ago. My room felt like it had been picked over. There were big areas of empty space where there was presumably more furniture at one time, and it was clear that there had once been a larger bed. My room didn't even have a 'Do Not Disturb' sign until the cleaning staff gave me one. There was no corkscrew/bottle opener in the room; when I snuck down to the restaurant to borrow a bottle opener, the receptionist told me they don't stock them in the rooms (if nothing else, this area is in the center of wine production in New Zealand). The bathroom had a lot of mildew in it. The one redeeming feature of my room was the balcony door I could open for fresh air which overlooked the harbour. If having to overnight in Picton again, I would research some of the other motels in the area to see if they are more recently refurbished, especially for the price you pay there.

A fine place for a short stay
The front desk service is good. The room is simple but in good condition, attractive, and clean. The bath room had broken tile that had been repaired in some spots, but it was clean. It's one block off the main drag and the harbor, so it has a nice locale.

The hotel room was very adequate and as advertised. We spent one night and then moved south. I would say it's a good place to lay your head after a long day of travel.

Cute, clean, great views!
Great little spot. Easy one block walk round the corner from the Ferry drop-off. Beautiful view of the Picton harbor. Easy walk to the main street restaurants. Updated rooms, super clean and well appointed with small balconies. Rooms include a wine fridge for storing all your Marlborough tour purchases. It was practically empty when we were there in Winter, so the staff were super friendly and helpful.
