Miracle Grand Convention Hotel, Bangkok

I have stayed at this hotel multiple times over the last 5 years or so. This is an update after a 3-week stay this month. The good: Staff services - from check-in to check-out, including restaurants, room service, and bellman services - are all still professional, efficient and friendly as always. Though restaurant menu and buffet selections are not as large as other 4-star hotels, the Miracle Grand foods taste better, at least to me, who like more authentic Asian foods. Also, unlike other hotels that have large group tours, this hotel did an excellent job of isolating the noise and hustles of tour groups from regular guests like me. Just okay: Location is good if you are looking for a hotel close to Don Muang airport. But the only shopping and dining nearby are in IT Square, about 20 minutes walk from the hotel. The bad: The hotel and facilities are still dated. Room innovations will be needed very soon. The TV receptions are the worst I have seen in 4-star hotels. (I spend more than 100 hotel-nights a year.) Biggest improvement: The quality of WiFi internet connections is now excellent. It used to be my biggest complaints about this hotel, but not any more.

I have stayed here before and been impressed but seems to have taken a step downhill. Room was generally clean but dusty. Room booked for 2 adults one toothbrush supplied. Mini bar stock was not as stated on check list informed reception they said I had an old stock card, so gave me another one informed them it was still no where near correct missing about 6 items their answer it's ok housekeeping know what's in the room. The same house keeping that can't figure out a twin room should have 2 toothbrushes. Everything ok but if they had charged me for mini bar items I wouldn't have had a leg to stand on. Breakfast also disappointing they can't even cook bacon.

We stayed here for a night between two flights. Everything was perfect for this. Nothing really to complain about. I just want to mention two things: 1. The bed was quite hard but after a 12 hour flight this was no problem 2. They advertise with "free airport shuttle" which actually means: 3 predefined times in the morning from the hotel to the airport. Not less and not more. No pickup from the airport or other times. In the end it wasn't a problem, since a official metered taxi was only about 100-150 Thai Bath

We stayed here for 3 nights. Though the lobby shows updates, the rooms themselves are a little dated. The daily breakfast was a highlight, and we appreciated the spacious rooms and easy access to the nearby university. Unfortunately due to other obligations we weren't able to use pool or gym facilities as these close early. Also our bathroom ceiling showed signs of water damage and when we requested a clean shower curtain form housekeeping, there was no action taken for the duration of our stay. Overall Miracle Grand Hotel met our needs for this stay, but with the exception of the breakfast, didn't wow us.

The hotel is one of the most popular for seminar, meetings, weddings, etc... I'm not sure how many people are here for vacation. Although the location is not bad, it's not the most convenient for travelers. On the other hand, the place is very popular for events, and I guess most rooms are filled with people that come for events. They're very professional in that aspect. Rooms are big and nice. Carpet is a bit worn, but everything else is fine.
