Fair 4.0
The bathtub was very deep and did not have appropriately placed grab bars. My mother, who is in her 70s, had so much trouble getting in and out of the tub that she used it only once and then spent the rest of the visit using the sink to clean herself, whereas I, who am in my 40s, about 5'7" (1.7m) and in great shape, found it awkward and uncomfortable entering and exiting the tub. For this reason alone, I would not recommend this hotel to anyone but the tall and agile. A more minor complaint is that the in-room refrigerator was very small. On the positive side, the staff was great, the restaurant was very good, the buffet breakfast was good, the views from the restaurant were excellent, and the location was great.

Good Location
I just got back from a stay at the Arnarhvoll hotel in Reykjavik and had a pretty nice time staying there. The location is very central and right across from the Harpa Concert Hall and the bus stop for all the tours. Breakfast is free, though a little limited and quite crowded, but the view from the rooftop restaurant is stunning. The room (I got a Deluxe Double) was more spacious than I expected and the floor heating was lovely! The bed was comfortable and the internet pretty reliable. The downside, as other reviewers have noted, is the bathroom. The shower is essentially open to the rest of the bathroom and thought this is similar to many in European hotels and I wasn't surprised, it wasn't ideal. The bathroom floor would get very wet and a little slippery, which could be dangerous. Also, it would have been nice to have a little conditioner and lotion instead of the all-purpose bottle of shampoo/shower gel. These small things can make a difference. The room was quite clean and though construction was taking place in front of the hotel, it was not loud in my room on the 7th floor. One little niggle was when a maid just opened my door without knocking even though it was locked, which I thought was not quite ok. The staff, was polite, but not overly helpful. No one offered to assist with luggage, or even to hold open the door when I was trying to wrangle my cases out. That being said, I would return here again. I was comfortable and the location just made exploring the city.

Everything great except the bathrooms
We had a good stay at this hotel. Everybody was very friendly and breakfast was really good in the mornings and I like the restaurant a lot. The only issue that I would have is the room itself, the bathroom was a complete downer for my wife and I with a walk-in shower and no barrier for the water coming down from the shower head. Bathroom always got wet and very damp and moist and since there is no AC inside the rooms. Also a very strong smell of sulfur. We were in other hotels in Iceland and the smell was not as strong as in this hotel. Bathrooms must be critically reanalyzed for design purposes.

Great location, fantastic staff
We stayed for three nights. Here's the scoop.. The Good: The front desk staff was very helpful, answering questions, confirming tours, making arrangements - could not have asked for better The room as clean and I felt safe and comfortable The bed was comfy The breakfast was tasty, in a beautiful setting in the rooftop dining room The location was great - easy access to everything The not so good: The bathroom was awkward. The tub was an odd shape, high and tough to enter, and just not well designed. The floor flooded every shower. We really didn't like it. The happy hour in the upstairs dining room was minimal and disappointing - beer, wine and one specialty cocktail

Sea view Reykjavik
This hotel is a good place to stay if you want something central but has a view of the sea. Situated opposite the Harpa concert hall it is ideal for any gigs that are going on there too. We booked the room and decided to be extravagant and get a room with a sea view. The room was clean, well appointed and indeed had a lovely view of the sea. The staff are exceptional, they couldnt do enough for us to make sure everything went smoothly and even helped out when a tour operator failed to pick us up, they called the head office of the firm and got us booked on a different tour for that day. So helpful. The breakfasts had a wide choice of items from hot bacon etc to traditional continental and cereals. Go earlier than 9 though as it will get a bit busy there, but with the great spread on show you can understand that! The only gripe, and its not aimed at the hotel at all, is that the room felt a little less than what you pay for. But this is down to the exchange rates really, especially UK/USA travellers. If you feel like you are going to blow your buget on a really fancy hotel and you arrive to something that is admittedly very nice but just not 'super mega posh' nice that you expected. Its not the hotels fault. Not at all. But the fact that everythiing in Reykjavik is that much more expensive than say UK/USA the difference in quality is noticeable when you think you are going for the very finest only to recieve something great. Again, nothing against this hotel. We enjoyed it.
