Generator London, London
Looks hip but facilities are old, unclean, crowded
Of the 3 nights I stayed in the 4 person room, the floor was never cleaned of the debris that was there from when I first arrived. The wastebin was nearly full when I arrived and was emptied only once during my stay after I spoke to the front desk. Due to the age of the building, the sockets are in the back corner that cannot easily be accessed from your bed to charge your phone. There was an in-room sink, and only 2 hooks on the walls -- not enough space to hang towel or coat for everyone. There are below-bed padlock storage and it has deep roominess for my Osprey backpack, but if you have a suitcase the height is probably not enough to fit. My back was stiff from the first night I slept on the mattress. The entire floor only has one bathroom for each gender, the old toilets require a hard push to flush at all, and there is water all over that I slipped several times (dangerous). The common lounge looks hip and the atmosphere has a college feel if you like that, but to me all the hoards of group tourists at night felt suffocating (and I'm even an extrovert). Oh, and the front desk is friendly but did not bother to give a single word to orient me to the premises. At the least my roommates were nice and the shower pressure warm. This does not compare at all to the Generator in Stockholm. Would not recommend staying here.

No kitchen, too few outlets, loud beds
Nice enough place, nice area, convenient from 3-4 tube stations. Staff was friendly but not always the most helpful. Three big drawbacks. No kitchen for guests to use, not even a microwave. Food from the cafe is overpriced, especially since they don’t give you an option to cook. No light/outlet per bed. I’ve now seen other reviews alluding to this as well, I get it’s an old building that you can’t change but you don’t have to move wiring within the walls. Other hostels do just fine running a cord to each bed with a light and outlet. It’s effective and cheap. 4 outlets for 6 people just doesn’t work Upper beds are very loud. Even just shifting around sounds like kick drum getting kicked. I imagine it’s even worse for the person under me.

Great hostel in a prime location.
The location between Russell Square and Euston and St. Pancras and Kings Cross stations was ideal for getting around on the tube. The Hop-on-Hop-off bus also had stops near by. There is also a mall between the Hostel and Russell Station for shopping. The room was basic - but that is what a hostel is about - as we spent most of our time out-n-about. Never had any issues waiting for shower facilities. There is a bar/coffee/restaurant, luggage lockers, and tourist info / concierge services at the front desk. Breakfast was overpriced - probably would go elsewhere on future visits. Coffee from the vending machine set a new low benchmark, Worse Ever! Buy coffee from the coffee bar instead, it is worth it.

Modern hip cool place
The place was very modern and hip. Lots of fun and funny decorations on tht walls. The floors are given names from British pop culture. Close to many good attractions and St Pancras station
