Pros and cons, but worth it
My wife and I stayed at St. Olav for a weekend. It's a very interesting old hotel with seemingly endless corridors and stairways filled with art and antique furniture (easy to get lost in, which we almost did a few times, but it was part of the fun). We stayed on the 5th floor, no elevators, so just getting up to our room was a bit of an adventure! The room was nice and clean, despite being a bit small (slanted ceilings like an attic on the top floor), had a mini fridge with a fully stocked bar (if you want to pay hotel prices for mini bottles of wine, which we didn't) and the bed was pretty comfortable, but the shower was pretty bad- it was hot, but it leaked so it had no pressure. The front desk staff wasn't very friendly.. polite, but not warm or welcoming. They did call us a taxi when we asked. The breakfast was amazing. We're both vegan and we found a lot to eat - coffee, fresh breads with home made jams, sautéed vegetables, pickled vegetables, potatoes, etc. There were also cereals, porridge, yogurt, meats, cheeses, eggs, and more. It's also really centrally located- close to shops and pretty much everything in Old Town, maybe 10-15€ by taxi from airport. Bottom line- it's a cool old place with a few quirks, but I'd stay there again.

Not too good
The pictures look nice in the net, but in reality, the hotel was poorly kept and probably saw it's glamour five or so years ago. The rooms 115-120 are in the back building, really unpleasent entrance next to the garbage / laundry room. Really bad smell in the first room we got, a mixture of sewer and mold. Second floor rooms better but not too clean. An athmosphere rating a well kept two star hotel, rather than the poorly managed four star it claims to be.

Poor service, okay hotel
The hotel actually chose not to honor the rate I booked the room at through a travel agent, and also failed to inform me or the travel agent I booked through of this, leaving me hotel-less in Tallinn at 5 in the evening. Needless to say that this left me less than impressed with the hotel. I can't really say anything about the rooms or much other than the lobby (which seemed a bit dated), but what I can tell you is that their check-in process is horrendous... there was a mad rush of people checking in around 2pm and only one stressed, rude young man to check a lobby full of people in. It took me around 1 hour to get to the desk, where I was told to come back later because he couldn't be bothered to look for my booking at the moment. The one redeeming quality of the hotel is the location (why I booked it), which is only a few blocks from the town hall square. I'd recommend booking elsewhere unless you're in a bind and get a cheap rate here (just be prepared for the possibility that they choose to sell your room at a higher rate without informing you!!).

Great value for money
The biggest plus of this hotel is the location - right in the Old Town of Tallinn. It serves a pretty good breakfast.
