Irwin's Mountain Inn, Banff

Clean, updated room, potentially limited parking
This lodge has a great location near the heart of downtown. The room was clean and relatively updated. The on-site parking was good, but may fill up easily if fully booked. Overall, we had a great stay.

recommended place to stay
Staff was helpful and friendly. Room was comfortable, hot tub was great. Quantity of parking on site is limited and could be an issue during real busy periods. Was awoken in the middle of the night by loud people in the hall a couple of times. No breakfast included however nice grocery store two blocks away. Bus stop near by.

Sweet spot to stay
Location was great, not too far down the strip of shops and restaurants. Bed was comfy, linens and towels were clean and free of stains. Staff was friendly and helpful. Price was great! There was plenty of closed off garage parking.

Irwin's Mountain Inn, Banff
Poor2.0
Worst hotel in all of Banff, cheap and cuts corner
Jackhammers and concrete destruction was happening in the basement/parking garage the entire time. I felt a harsh shortness of breath from the dust and had a asthma attack because or Irwin's bad preparation and lack of notice. I was never told about the construction before my stay or when I arrived. I was put into a room that I did not book, even though I called 4 times before arriving including the day of. First I booked at King room, then they moved me to a queen, and I ended up with two single-beds sleeping by myself...this hotel has new windows and its obvious the installer was not a licensed contractor, as they didn't use any sealant let alone a cold-weather strip for the frame- so it was freezing cold the entire time. If the heater wasn't on full blast and melting any clothes near it, then the room would be in close to freezing point with 10mins. it was like a window was open all the time in a freezing mountain environment. Overall, I've stayed at some pathetic motels and this place should have been quite nice for the price. I would recommend staying at a hostel before Irwin's Mountain Inn- the hotel is a joke and shouldn't be able to charge more for $30 for a room for the night. Also, if you can fit your car in the garage- DON'T! You will be hit my construction trucks and other guest, since the garage has space for 4 cars but they jam in 9 or 10 and you can't get your car out until others leave for the day.
