Great hotel
Great location. Rooms could use a refresh. Otherwise a fantastic stay.

Charming in a shabby/chic sort of way
We stayed at the Red Lion for two nights for a reunion with two other couples. The positives: The location was perfect for getting about in Henley. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The hotel was full of old world charm. The room was clean, quiet and spacious. Good breakfast. Good free wifi. The negatives: The plumbing leaves a lot to be desired - the water was hot but the water pressure low which made showering a challenge. The room furniture was old and a bit decrepit in a shabby/chic sort of way. I didn't realise they still made TV sets so small! On the first morning the breakfast room was freezing as the heating was not working. We asked for a small portable heater but were told that none were available. Heating was OK by second day.

Great location but average accommodation
This hotel has a fantastic location and lovely river views but is in need of some investment- the bathrooms are rather tired with Lino flooring and the taps and shower controls have lost any shine they once has so it just doesn't feel very clean. The room was adequate but had a small TVs , a custard cream as the complimentary biscuit to go with the tea making facilities, so hardly making the place feel special. The carpet had little or no underlay and so again just reflects a lack of investment. This hotel could be so much more and sadly the room rates do not reflect the average standard of the room. the staff were lovely though !
