Comfortable Stay in Historic Southwestern VT
This was a surprisingly great place to stay for 2 nights while doing business in Cambridge, NY: the co-owners were a delightful married couple with whom I had a nice conversation when I arrived on Tuesday evening and each morning when I went to the office to grab a quick-cup of coffee and a muffin before departing. Very friendly and accommodating. The room was perfect for my needs and it was equipped with exactly what I needed for such a short business trip. While there is free wifi at the motel, I was not able to access it in my room (#10) the first night. Fortunately, it was accessible the 2nd night. The only real "negative" was the archaic condition of the East-West back-roads I had to take -- on the VERMONT side of the trip -- in order to get to the client site in Cambridge, NY, about 20 miles to the west of the motel. Unpaved, gravel roads full of holes and dips that were worsened by the day-long rainstorm the day before I made the over-and-back trips. I can't imagine how I would have made it using them in the winter when there is snow on them. Yikes! Why the villages, county, or state of VT have chosen to ignore paving those East-West back-roads in the 17th year of the 21st century is beyond me. It was like driving a jalopy must have been 100 years ago without paved roads! This is not the fault of the motel but it is a complicating factor for a businessman like me.

Nice, but definitely not fabulous
I want to give this place a good rating but there were a few issues. Some reviews say you cannot hear road noise but you definitely can. My guess is they were there in the summer and had a/c on which drowned out the noise. Also, our room had a constant tapping/dripping noise behind the wall, perhaps a pipe. Again, a/c may drown this out but in October, it is very annoying. Also, not every room has a patio (just the 2 queen rooms), The rooms are clean but VERY small, especially the bathroom and there is no tub. Overall, it is a pleasant place with a very nice lady running it, but I would differ with the people who said it is "fabulous". This is misleading. It is nice, but ...........................
