Barceló Malaga, Malaga
Convenient to train & bus
We were passing through on the way to the airport from Granada and decided to spend an afternoon, night, and half the next day seeing Málaga and especially the Picasso museum. The hotel is adjacent to the train station and a five-minute walk from the main bus terminal. That said, the neighborhood isn't anything special and you need to walk 15-20 minutes to get to the center of town, the cathedral, and so forth. We didn't research it further, but the entire waterfront along this stretch is freight docks and cruise ship piers. For beaches, it would be a longer walk or taxi to the main Costa del Sur, I guess. Still, we enjoyed wandering the old town, eating & drinking, and found the Picasso museum an excellent bite-sized representation of his entire career (he was, after all, born here). By the way, we loved the slide from the first floor to the lobby. Sure beats the elevator!

Good stay at Barcelo Malaga
Very convenient for train and air travelers (fast cheap Cercanias train to airport). When the Metro additioin is finished, it will also be convenient to the old city area. Only negative was that the air conditioning was excessive and couldn't be turned down to a comfortable level. However, turning the AC off and opening a window made the temperature more comfortable.
