Superb stay
Took train from airport to hotel which was no problem. Rooms were very well appointed and the bed was super comfortable. Wonderful shower and very clean . W e arrived at 10pm and lounge bar was open for a sandwich and a wine or beer. Excellant experience all around.

Good business class hotel; marginal location.
Business-class hotel that we picked (among other reasons) for ease in returning our rental car to the adjoining Hertz office. It's a railway station hotel, and not in the best part of downtown. We might have been happier staying closer to the old town. But within that, the hotel is up-to-date, clean, and well-maintained; staff were helpful; rooms were a good size; and kudos for the blackout shades that really do black out the room. Aesthetically, it's a bit odd in the way that European hotels can be when trying to be very modern and just missing. We had repeated difficulties with the parking lot exit (not under the hotel's control). Front desk staff had to help us twice, and upon our second return, management had left a bottle of cava, a plate of macarons and an apologetic note in my room. Note if using Google maps: enter the destination as "Barcelo Malaga" and not "Hotel Barcelo Malaga." With the H-word, Google maps will try to send you to the Barcelo property in Granada.

Convenient to train & bus
We were passing through on the way to the airport from Granada and decided to spend an afternoon, night, and half the next day seeing Málaga and especially the Picasso museum. The hotel is adjacent to the train station and a five-minute walk from the main bus terminal. That said, the neighborhood isn't anything special and you need to walk 15-20 minutes to get to the center of town, the cathedral, and so forth. We didn't research it further, but the entire waterfront along this stretch is freight docks and cruise ship piers. For beaches, it would be a longer walk or taxi to the main Costa del Sur, I guess. Still, we enjoyed wandering the old town, eating & drinking, and found the Picasso museum an excellent bite-sized representation of his entire career (he was, after all, born here). By the way, we loved the slide from the first floor to the lobby. Sure beats the elevator!
