Vatican Suites Hotel & Residence, Rome
Very Good8.0
The place was great, the only downside was the second room. We booked a room for 3 adults, this place is like apartment turned into hotel rooms. The second room where the single bed was which is where the kitchen is doesn't have an A/C, only the main room has air conditioner but it didn't cool off the other room, it was hot the entire afternoon and night.

Nothing "great", but everything "good"
Everything was fine, but nothing exceptional. The room we were in had an awkward layout...nowhere to sit and relax unless we wanted to lay in bed. The great part is that it is VERY close to Vatican (10 minute walk) and there were two very good restaurants within a 5 minute walk (Angelo's Restaurant and Papa Rex Restaurant) The beds were just OK. We would have preferred a shower, rather than the tub. Cleaning lady was very good and thorough.

Vatican Suites could be charming HOWEVER .......
If you are not concerned with the comforts of typical hotel accommodations, then this is the hotel for you. The rooms are not decorated as portrayed in pictures. No flowers, barely a glass in the bathroom & token shampoo bottle, not even an ice bucket or an ice machine. The vending machine (which is the alternative to breakfast) was empty. The safe in the room still wasn't fixed after several requests & numerous guests needed to complain enough about the air conditioning system not working in JUNE that management seems to have been shamed into having the system turned on. The place could be charming if ownership put some time, money & effort into it. The layout of suites is nice BUT the plumbing, bathrooms & electrical systems are old and noisy. Nor is this the place for you if you want quiet. Besides noisy plumbing, you hear every door in the place when it closes & at night you can hear every word of your fellow guests conversations in adjoining rooms. The terrace up top would also be charming if it where cleaned! Despite complaints of other guests, we found the staff to be very helpful providing advice & suggestions for dining, means of travel, etc. For that we were thankful!
