loved the room!

Prytania Oaks Hotel, New Orleans
Historic setting - OK for One Night
A quaint historic house near St. Charles Avenue, with individual rooms. Room was clean - historic with hardwood floors and appointments, but modern shower which was nice, but took some of charm away. I had a single room with private bath at the rear of the building -very quiet, but not much of a view. There are rooms with a porch overlooking the historic neighborhood, so make sure you check out what type room you are choosing. In room coffee pot, refrigerator, many channels on TV. Cold continental breakfast in morning - very small, and they were short staffed. All in all, it was an "OK" stay but I probably would not stay again....too many other places in New Orleans to choose from.

When we first entered the neighborhood, we were appalled. It is run down and somewhat frightening. However, it looks as if a lot of work is going into it. The hotel also looked a bit sad on the outside, but it was clean, quiet and comfortable, plus close to the trolley, so we were fine. Staff was great. Lots of restaurants nearby, plus free parking. We never used our car. Sidewalks were broken, so if walking is a problem, think twice. Overall, we had an excellent stay.

We had a total of 5 room keys throughout our trip and only one worked. The office being 2 blocks away was a pain when it was torrential downpour and our key wouldn't work. The neighborhood leaves something to be desired as well. The hotel itself was nice and clean and I thought very charming and cute.
