Mathew, the proprietor was extremely helpful, knowledgeable, flexible and genuinely kind. He has a great staff. If you’re interested in the Akroteri excavation site and want to stay near it, you can’t do better than Akroteri Hotel

Very nice, clean hotel
We stayed three nights at the Arethusa. The first one was not so pleasant for my wife; the mattress that she had was so soft that it hurt her back. When she complained, the staff were very understanding, and by the time we returned from our excursion that evening, it had been replaced! That is true service. The only other complaint is poor wi-fi service--so totally unreliable and unresponsive, they should either upgrade significantly, or not advertise that they have it. The free breakfasts were fine, although the eggs were always cold. Everything else was very good; for a hotel in Greece, the rooms were ample. They were very clean and well-cared for, and the staff were responsive and personable. The price was not lower-end, but very reasonable for what we got. After staying in places that had postage-stamp sized bathrooms and showers that get the whole floor soaked, the Arethusa was a nice change--a large bathroom with an excellent shower and an abundance of hot water. The area, right near Syntagma, is perfect; it was a short walk to almost everything you could want to see. I would certainly stay here again.

Very nice Hotel close to Syntagma Station. About 20 minutes walking distance to Acrópolis and many sightseeing locations. Plenty of cafes, restaurants, shops, stores, around. Safe area, helpful staff, spacious room.

location is excellent. However, the toilet quite small, toilet room glass door block the sink when door open, have to close the door then can stand in front of the sink. not enough power point, we are 3 persons stay in 1 room, only 1 power point to charge our handphones, and portable power banks, need to wake up midnight to change device to charge.

Great place - wifi was kinda slow
Putting aside the glass bathroom door and the awkward position of the toilet up against the wall - it was a great time, the hotel is an excellent price and located right where you want to be - an ideal area to properly enjoy Athens.

I enjoyed my stay with 2 exceptions. The first is I was hit with a hidden charge from the hotel when checking out. Even though I had paid before my trip I was hit with a City Tax of €4.50. Not much but, it is the point of it. Second, is that the hotel does not have an iron and an ironing board and refuse to get one. I usually do this myself. I had to go a couple of blocks away to a dry cleaners to get my clothes ironed. The hotel is in a decent location. The breakfast was ok.
