Middle-of-the-road at best
This was my final stop on a cross-country return trip for work, so I decided to book this room because it was the only one available in the area that would allow an under 21 check-in. I never had contact with anybody else in the building as the front desk hours are very short and I did not use any of the spa services. The Wicker Park location is about the only thing I can say I was thrilled about. My bedroom was filthy and the wifi was terrible. There was still hair in the sink from the last tenant, stains on the shower door, and the carpet looked like it had not been vacuumed. The temperature in the room was 56 degrees when I entered and it took nearly 2 hours for it to reach 70. I will say, however, that the bed was extremely comfortable and I was satisfied with the amenities I had in the room. The kitchen was also a mess, however, and the door to the mini-fridge wouldn't even close because so much frost had built up in the freezer. Overall, I'd say my stay here was kind of middle-of-the-road at best. There really should have been at least one free spa service included for the price, but there was free gym access so I guess that's something.

Clean Rooms, Bare Bones
The Ruby Room was a cool place to stay for an overnight trip. No way could I stay there more than one night - no TV (though there was clearly outlets on one wall in front of the bed to accommodate one) and there were very minimal in-room amenities. I did not get the room I booked on Hotels.com. In fact, I was given the room I was hoping to avoid getting since the bed was in-set into a “cubby” in the room where there were no side tables and no room for side tables. One side of the bed was maybe 3 inches off the wall. Also, the room was on the 4th floor where there are no elevators and the staircase was very steep (so, disabled people should definitely avoid this place - and maybe people with bad knees). Our room also had no towels and since this isn’t a regular hotel and since we got up before 10am (when their shops open and someone is there to address situations like this), we had no recourse except to depart without having showered (not ideal after a long night of carousing all over town). Having said all of that, I would actually stay here again for another overnight trip. The neighborhood is outstanding and a very cool part of Chicago that has virtually no “touristy” feel to it. The place was very clean and comfortable to sleep in (no need to stay in the room unless you’re in bed or in the bathroom). Also, great WiFi.

Charming hotel, loved the decor!
Kitchen needs a little bit more character and common space to sit.. more seats in the room? Hotel rooms always have so many chairs right!?
