Lava Pond Lodge, Volcano
I could live here permanently!
This is a wonderful place to stay; beautiful outside and comfortable and "homey" inside. Lori made us feel welcome - like seeing an old friend - and her breakfasts were great! We would go back there any time. She had lots of info about local happenings and things to do.

Lovely and inviting
We just spent a wonderful 3 nights in the Orchid Room at Lava Pond Lodge. Lori, the innkeeper, was absolutely lovely - so friendly and welcoming, providing a delicious breakfast spread each day. It’s in a quiet, private location, just minutes from the entrance to Volcano National Park. The only downside was the room was a bit too cold (I get cold very easily), but the heated mattress pad on the bed made for a cozy snuggle under the covers. If we are ever back in the area, we’ll definitely stay there again.

This place and the manager Lori definitely deserves 5 out of 5. Great location, nice room, delicious breakfast. Lori gave us a lot of tips and let us borrow flashlights. 13min drive from the crater overlook. Super convenient if you want a night view of the volcano.

Cozy B&B
What a great find. I was able to book this private room in a B&B last minute just 4 miles away from the Volcanoes National Park. I would have stayed longer if my trip would have allowed. The hostess Lori was awesome. She was super easy to communicate with and gave great recommendations for the area and the entire island. The room was spacious, warm (nice fireplace), and quite even though there were others in the house. Private bath was great. Nice little neighborhood for walking or jogging. Breakfast was amazing!! I would definitely stay at Lava Pond Lodge if visiting the National Park nearby. Also, parking was available. Rooms are super secure with your own electronic door lock.

Cozy Couple Retreat
An anniversary getaway. The room was large and private. It was dimly lit during the day by at night there is plenty light coming in. Bring eye mask if you have light sensitivity. There is a fireplace but it puts out minimal heat or light. The bed is heated and cozy and was our favorite feature. The breakfast was delicious, the company friendlt6, and Lori (who manages the place) was very kind and welcoming. Great location and a few restaurants around. To eat inside Volcano Natl park then you must get a park pass which is $25 a day or $30 for the year. Would stay again.
