It was great, except they charged me 20% tax because I did not keep my immigration receipt which no one told me to keep.

GREAT for the money.
I had a wonderful experience here. Great service, good breakfast, comfortable bed in a clean, well designed room. Hot water with good pressure. Good Wi-Fi. The front desk folks were awesome. Oh, and it’s near a lot of the older parts in the center of town, great for museum goers and walkers. Also across the street from a subway stop. The neighborhood is bustling during the day, I wondered if it was a transitional neighborhood, but my fears were unfounded and it ended up being an interesting urban neighborhood.

Decent hotel if everything worked
Hotel is what you expect when staying at a chain place like Mercure. Room was clean, beds were comfortable, shower was great, pool was nice, wifi worked well, and no issues with really anything in the room. With that said, check in took about 15 minutes just to get to the desk. And I was the first person waiting on two clerks to check in two people in front of me. I get that you are there to help people as well, but for one group, they spent 5 minutes talking about restaurants and other places when you have people waiting to check in. Maybe ask them to call down after they check in for advice as they have had (by then, a longer line of) people waiting to check in. Second, they only had one working elevator, and it was slow. This is a 20ish story building...with one elevator working. There were 3 elevators. Two were meant for guests. One of the guest ones was out of service..but no warning of this when we checked in either. So, I walk up to the third elevator (that is not marked at all for service use only) and I quickly got yelled at no when I press the button. The elevator came, and it looked just fine, and it worked. Instead, they made everyone wait at least 5 minutes each time you needed the elevator instead temporarily using the service elevator (which went to all floors). Also, they never mentioned the stairs and when asked, the person just pointed at the elevator. We found the stairs by ourselves due to not wanting to wait for another 5 minutes to ride down.

Great hotel for tourists in Santiago
Great hotel. Very pleased with everything. Location is very close to a subway stop. Easy to get around. Not many restaurants nearby though.
