Stuffy noisy rooms and a lot of hassle
Room booked: Deluxe room Many problems with this hotel really spoiled our stay: the revolving door at the entrance that is fully manual, the two swiping devices in the lifts not working properly taking up to three swipes to get the lift moving, the issues with the rooms either too hot, noisy, too small or all of that, the shower you end up holding with one hand, the drain clogged, the attitude of the staff at the reception, the noisy office aircons and ventilation systems on the “quiet” side of the hotel, the lack of babybed, the surprise visitor without knock at the door to deliver a fan we never ask for. And the list goes on. Expecting a Deluxe 25sqm room with king size bed, we ended up in a small room on the third floor on the “quiet” side of the hotel, after the staff tried to shove us into an “accessible room” and after spending one night in a 2nd floor room on the noisy street side. Willy from reception were informed us that “too many king size beds in an hotel means bad business”. Should I care? The staff are relatively young employees giving the hotel a feel of training centre. The breakfast and restaurant staff were friendly and welcoming. Most of the staff at reception is not customer orientated, can be condescending, not to say arrogant and make you feel you are "the next thing to expedite" in Courtyard´s money making machine. We simply expected a comfortable room and a good night sleep, hassle free. Courtyard failed. We feel like robbed of 700 USD.

Mediocre hotel, awful location
I chose this hotel because it is a brand I typically associate with quality and it was close to the station and city centre. It seems that staying close up the main reason station in Germany can leave you in a fairly dodgy area. The hotel is on the main block for lap dancing bars, porno kabins etc The Starbucks clone coffee shopo on the corner of the block was fully of very unsavoury people who were openly dealing drugs. On my first evening here upon returning to the hotel I had to step past the paramedics helping someone who has been stabbed. I travel a lot around the world and have to say for the reason of personal security I would not recommend this hotel to female travelers. Once you're outside the two block radius around the hotel Munich is lovely and feels safe. But the area where the hotel is feels unsafe at most times of day. As for the hotel, it's reasonably tidy. Although my bathroom has a permanent smell of cigarettes wafting through the Aircon. The view from most of the rooms seems to be of a grey low light courtyard housing the aircon vents. The rooms also felt clean visibly but only just. And seriously, ten euros a day for internet! This is 2017. It should be free. Come on Marriott, I expect more from you!

Poor staff and hygiene
The extra bed that we paid for was dirty and I had some 20 bug bites after I slept for a short while. Called housekeeping for room service to replace both blanket and bed sheet, a guy came with only a blanket. i asked for bed sheets and his attitude was very bad and appears to understand little English. He later did come back for a big stack of bed sheets, but he just left without helping me fix the bed at all. Very unpleasant experience. The hotel staff also gave wrong information that all sightseeing places are closed on unity day. With this advice, my group decided to cancel our sightseeing plans but turns out those places are indeed open. I'm surprised that even a large, reputable hotel group would not train its staff to be more aware of up-to-date tourist information.

Great Location, comfortable Rooms, poor customer
We chose this hotel because of what it could offer us in accommodation and it was centrally located. It was also suggest by the tourist board. Unfortunately, we were immediately disappointed by the staff and their ability to quick move through the checkin process and get us to our rooms. We had been traveling quite a distance. Although three staff members where in the vicinity, only one was handling all the guests arriving and all phone calls and other issues! The process was very manual and cumbersome. They were all so not up front with financial blocks applied to credit cards. In fact, the young lady said 'I know it's not on our website but this is our standard practice'. I had to remind her we had been standing at the desk and she had not bothered to mention it to us personally. The next morning, at 8am, housekeeping were knocking on the room door to ask if they could do the room!! Outside these issues, the rooms were spacious, clean and very well appointed with a nice restaurant.

Not enough toiletries and dirty kettle
I did not know how this hotel gets it's 4-stars rating. There is no bedroom slipper and the only toiletries provided are 1 small soap (only 1 additional soap throughout 3 nights stay), 1 small tube of Shower Gel daily, 1 small tube of Shampoo daily and 1 small tube of Conditioner daily barely enough for daily use. I had to call the front desk to find out that you needed to select EUR7.5/day Basic WIFI usage which was waived at the end of the stay. The Kettle was very dirty with black particles seen after pre-boiling before actual boiling-again usage. The small synthetic drawer used to store the coffee, tea, sugar had power particles everywhere. The bed was comfortably soft to my delight. There were enough pillows too for hugging and stacking. But my back pack zipper was discovered closed when I purposely left the zippers opened before I left for Day 2 of my tour. So your bag got "handled" somehow. Day 3 the zipper stayed opened upon returning to hotel. But the location is good within short walking distance from Train Station and Shopping. Reception was kind enough to allow late check out (~2pm) instead of the official 12pm.
