Beautiful views
This was by far the nicest accommodation we stayed in while in Ireland. Staff was very helpful and rooms were clean and well equipped.

Refreshing and relaxing
Wish we would have had more time here. Lovely hotel with lots of amenities and exceptional view. Enjoyed every evening with drinks on restaurant patio and in the garden. Just far enough out of Cork to be peaceful but close enough to walk if you are in good shape.

Awesome Hotel
Absolutely fantastic, we have stayed at five star hotels and resorts and I would put The Montenotte up against any of them. We love everything about it! The location, decor, ambiance, great value for the money. The staff was superb, from the two Daniels who served us at the bar, Diego our waiter, Amy and Vourenne at the front desk. We have to give a special shout out to Mags the concierge who just went above and beyond! What a sweet, warm person who couldn't have been more helpful and pleasant. What a joy to chat with, she seems like she really enjoys her job. We really loved everything about the hotel but the genuine friendliness and service provided by the staff really puts this place over the top. The outdoor dining is so pleasant and picturesque the pictures don't do it justice. We also utilized the indoor pool, jacuzzi, and steam/sauna and totally enjoyed it. Would definitely stay again!

The staff was amazing. Everyone was extremely helpful and welcoming. The beds were very comfortable and although we only spent one night, we enjoyed our short stay. Only one drawback was that it was not located within walking distance to the central city. We knew that though and took a taxi into the city to explore.

Very Good 8.0
Good experience overall, with some quirks
Pros: + Great view from many parts of the hotel + Gorgeous sunken garden + Friendly staff + Amenities in the apartment rooms were well above average - they include a fridge, freezer, washing machine and dryer, microwave, oven, full range, and are fully furnished with pots, pans, plates, etc. - Beautiful furnishings including LED recessed lighting with dimmers. - Well appointed restroom and shower. Great water pressure. Cons: - Our toilet had a broken seat upon check in - I informed the staff but they did not fix it during the two days of our stay. - The access road can be extremely tight if you approach from the east (Lovers Walk) - approach from the west instead especially if you are not a veteran Irish driver. - No air conditioning (typical of Irish hotels I think) so it can get very stale with the windows closed or very cold with the windows open and difficult to modulate temperature. - Bed choices were lacking - a double bed was not quite big enough for we two tall people and I was more comfortable sleeping on the couch. - Our outer door had a very loud "squeak" caused by the metal door closer in the doorframe rubbing against the door. The door had noticeable damage from this impact, so it's surprising maintenance never came to fix it. - Housekeeping never came to make up our room. Not sure if this is expected for the "apartment" rooms. - The room did not have a do not disturb sign. - Wifi was free but inconsistent and disconnected often

Worth it!
This hotel is great. It’s a bit of a walk up the hill, but once you get there it’s totally worth it. The views, drinks, food and hot tub are well worth it.

Great hotel, fun personality
We had a group of 9 stay this weekend. They were very accommodating about checking in at different times and making us feel welcome right away. I feel so terrible that I didn’t catch his name but we dealt with one member of the concierge in particular that really made our experience memorable. He was incredibly warm and welcoming and made us feel right at home (he had two inner ear piercings if someone at the Montenotte can get this message to him!). The vibe is very unique without trying too hard. There are trendy/quirky pieces throughout the building. The rooms are clean and modern and they even have cell phones you can borrow while you’re at the hotel so you don’t have to worry about roaming charges exploring the city! Our room didn’t have a fridge but it was no problem to call down and have one brought up. The location is slightly out of the city center but it’s an easy cab ride or walk if you want to stretch your legs. They do have a gym/leisure club that has decent equipment and weights. There is an indoor pool but you need to wear a swim cap (available at the gym desk). My only downside is that room service food isn’t available late as all the other food options in the city shut down by 10-10:30. The concierge did help us order a pizza from a local pizza place but but the pizza was terrible - we would have loved to order from the hotel. They are also currently doing some construction so some of the hallways are closed. Not a huge deal.
