Huge estate
This gorgeous estate is an experience. Definitely worth checking out. The estate has sheep and a fun children's playground. We stayed in the lodge, not the main building , and our room was beautiful and bright and comfortable; however, we saw more than one roach during our one night stay, which was quite detracting from the overall experience.

Seems to be huge draw for young families w/ babies
Area and history of Ickworth is compelling, and this hotel provides the quintessential English experience. However, we were somewhat surprised with the significant number of young families with infants (not talking just two or three but what seemed like the vast majority of our fellow clientele), many of whom were, how to put this, endowed with healthy lungs which they tried out with gusto. On a sustained basis. So while the food was incredibly tasty, service very welcoming, and the grounds spectacular - the plethora of babies and parents struggling with excessive baby paraphernalia presented a somewhat stark (and a bit unfortunate, for us anyway) contrast to the setting.

Great for the Kids to Play and Adults to relax
Great hotel that really caters to families. There is an abundance of child-focused activities at the hotel - movie night, pool with floaties, a creche, wellies of all sizes, bikes and helmets for all ages, and trunks of toys in every hallway. The location was also lovely - on the national trust property that is sprawling, beautiful and green. The only downside was the service, particularly in the restaurants. The servers were not attentive - we never got water refills at dinner and the food at the kids dinner buffet was not replenished unless someone specifically asked for a certain food item. Very odd for such a fantastic hotel. That said, we didn't go for the restaurant service, we went for the kids and they loved it.

King's room with 4 poster bed!
Loved this place. The staff are fabulous. Top quality all round. The only thing for me was the wifi quality was not quite consistent enough for me to be able to video conference with my office in California. But that aside, I highly recommend this place!!
