Great for the Kids to Play and Adults to relax
Great hotel that really caters to families. There is an abundance of child-focused activities at the hotel - movie night, pool with floaties, a creche, wellies of all sizes, bikes and helmets for all ages, and trunks of toys in every hallway. The location was also lovely - on the national trust property that is sprawling, beautiful and green. The only downside was the service, particularly in the restaurants. The servers were not attentive - we never got water refills at dinner and the food at the kids dinner buffet was not replenished unless someone specifically asked for a certain food item. Very odd for such a fantastic hotel. That said, we didn't go for the restaurant service, we went for the kids and they loved it.

King's room with 4 poster bed!
Loved this place. The staff are fabulous. Top quality all round. The only thing for me was the wifi quality was not quite consistent enough for me to be able to video conference with my office in California. But that aside, I highly recommend this place!!

A fantastic break from the norm
I stayed here for one night mid-week whilst on business in Bury St Edmunds. The hotel was exceptional in every way - and the price I paid was less than for a drab, budget chain hotel. The hotel building is beautiful, the staff were polite, efficient, and faultless, and the surrounding area is a marvel. Staying here is a genuine pleasure and I can't wait to do it again.

overall a very pleasant experience
we had a very pleasant stay - we took our dog with us and stayed in the lodge. this is a pleasant 20 minute walk from main hotel or a 2 minute drive. I had a very good fbm treatment and a swim in the pool. I had the pool to myself - a bonus. the food was good but quite expensive and was enough without feeling over full. breakfast in the conservatory was also very good. I had a fab cheese scone in the café by the entrance to the italiniate gardens, also worth looking at and the gift shop has some very nice items in it especially as I was looking for a present for a friend. I don't think dogs were allowed in the hotel especially in eating areas which is sensible we left ours in the car while we had a meal (windows open of course) in the hotel. I would recommend this hotel and they are obviously child friendly as well. (we are grandparents)
