Selina Union Market DC
Spent three nights here. The first problem was the so-called "experience fee" of $23 extra per night that they tried to charge us at check-in . Expedia had clearly stated how much our 3 night stay would cost (total due at check-in), and the "experience fee" was extra. In the end we paid for one night's "experience fee", and had 3 days of breakfast included (a sort of continental-type with cold slices of meat, bread, cheese - not bad). The room looked OK, but no tissues, hair dryer, iron, coffee maker, microwave, or fridge, not even a telephone to call the front desk - and we were paying more than $200 per night. Oh, and there was nowhere to put your clothes, no cupboard or chest-of-drawers - only a single structure consisting of a metal frame with 2 wooden shelves about 4 feet long. But the real problem was yet to come. The floor (wood laminate, or whatever) was FILTHY. It didn't look it, but in the morning after walking barefoot across the floor and stepping in the shower, the water ran black (and I mean BLACK not just dirty). I couldn't believe it so I rubbed a dry (not wet) paper towel on the floor of the bedroom, and it came up BLACK with thick dirt, anywhere in the room. So the bottom line for us was: it could have been a nice unusual hotel, with a nice foyer and pleasant rooms. But it wasn't!
