Lovely hotel with loads of Old England character
Lovely, characteristic hotel in the heart of Amersham. Close enough to London to go there, far enough away to be in another world. I broke my journey from further north to Heathrow with an overnight stay at the King's Arms, and really enjoyed it.

A stylish Tudor building on the outside but modern inside.

Friggin cool
Built in the 1400s, this place is amazing. It's not plush but they have done an excellent job putting modern conveniences in a very original building. My room had about a foot slope across its length and there were no straight lines on any of the walls but that added to the charm. Excellent service excellent breakfast, very cool building.

I'm not sure if we caught them at a bad time, but in spite of an initially good impression..reception helpfully swapped us to a ground floor accessible room on arrival. However, breakfast and checkout seemed would expect a sizeable hotel to be able to cope with a full dining room for breakfast, but we ended up waiting a very long time for the main breakfast, and having been told they'd run out of two of the main ingredients for my choice, they still managed to get both orders wrong. Then after requesting an extra 10 minutes to check out we were lockedout whilst loading the car, and couldn't find any reception staff to let us back in...someone from the restaurant ended up helping us! Not the start you need for a difficult funeral!
