Very Good 8.0
Better for young folks.
I think this may be a better experience for younger people. I was expecting more based on the reviews and price. The decor and the rooftop bar are nice, but there is not really much around the hotel in terms of restaurants or sights to see, though it is close to a metro that will have you downtown in 4 stops. The rooftop bar was pretty full each time and the second time had a really loud DJ for such a small space. The rooms were an ok size, but they have centralized AC set to a pretty high temp and you can only change the temp in your room by 3 degrees. There is a small window and a fan in the room, which helped a little but introduced a lot of outside noise. The mattress also slid around a lot on the frame and I found it uncomfortable. The staff was very friendly, but I had several problems with the service. First, when I paid for breakfast they over-charged two of the rooms by charging two breakfasts per day even after I confirmed several times when he was putting it in the system that those rooms only had one person each. I was paying for a total of 6 rooms, and when I checked out they only sent me the invoice for one room. I went back to the counter and asked for the other five and the staff member wrote it down, but never sent them. I emailed them twice with no response. I finally had to call when I was back home, paying for international calling, and the first person I spoke to only sent 5 of the rooms so I had to call again to get all the bills for my expense report.

Exceptional 10.0
Best value for money in Amsterdam
Really nice stay as always, only small complaint was that room 301 had weak wifi signal, and game 6 of nba finals was on but without any broadcast on their tv channel selection.

Friendly staff and convenient location to Metro.
The hotel was fine for the $$. We slept well when we first arrived, but being on the second level above the entrance was not the best location for older folks. This hotel seems to be more of a young persons hotel and more designed for college aged people. We couldn’t get to the rooftop lounge because it was party central when we went up to relax after a day in the city. From Friday until Sunday we didn’t sleep well with the noise directly under our window. Not sure what time the bar closes but I was awoken at 3:30 on Sunday morning with loud talking and what seemed to be arguing. Since we were leaving for the airport in the morning I just got up, showered and finished packing before getting a bite to eat before checking out. I think more care should be taken when assigning rooms to tourists. With time differences for international travelers sleep can be important in making adjustments.

Overall a nice hotel. Our air conditioning did not work and when we asked reception about it they advised us that it was only a fan to the outside air?? Yet the air conditioner would not turn on at all. Luckily, nights were cool enough to crack a window. The room was clean and a good size. Easy walk to public transportation. I'd stay here again, but for the cost of the hotel I would have expected a bit more.
