Excellent spot on Bankers Hill
I was in town for 5 nights for a conference. Front desk staff was attentive and friendly, knowledgeable about the area. Room was clean, bed was super comfortable, nice TV and easy to use remote, AWESOME shower, nice bathroom overall. My stay was nothing short of enjoyable. While it's not close to the Green line, Uber is excellent in SD and I recommend using it. Super affordable and infinitely better than cabs or buses. While there was no ongoing construction, a large lot behind the hotel has been razed for a large condo complex to go in, so I'd call ahead and see if there is construction going on when you plan to stay there. Highly recommended and will be back next year for sure.

Greta hotel
Great and beautiful hotel. Old house from 1887. We stayed in the seperately house. Room was great. Bathroom a bit dirty. Mold along the shower/tub chalking and spider webs everywhere. Didn't bother me, but it does take away from the beautiful room and grounds. The hood is somewhat business-like. Not a ton to see, but Balbo park and the zoo are a block away. Aside from the minor things I mentioned, Would totally stay here again.

That Smell!
The price was right and the old charm of the main building was definitely picture worthy, but I won't be staying again. When I came in the room there was a really strong scent of something bad...hotel attendant showed me how to open feint screen door for fresh air. I was a female, traveling alone, and the homeless guy laying on the sidewalk across the grounds, that I could see from my window, left me feeling uneasy about leaving anything open. So every time the AC turned on, I held my breath for the urine smell to dissipate. The comforter smelled bad, the pillows on the bed smelled bad...its a definite issue. I needed to be out the door at 7...breakfast, even a cup of coffee wasn't until 7:30, which is a little later than many travelers might need. Great charm, great price, but would not recommend to my friends!

Got Hot Water and Dusty Quilt? Yes!
Stayed overnight in this Victorian Mansion turned Inn with my husband. At first glance it was stunning, however, I had concerns about these things: 1) Shower was nicely appointed, looked clean and updated, but there was no way to cool the water. I love hot shower, but not a scalding burn your skin off arsenal of H2O. 2) Very dark hallways; no lights were turn on when going to our room. Creepy, like navigating into a haunted house. 3) Quilt seem dusty and dirty. Bedding needs an overhaul. 4) All the lamps in the room were unplugged. Why?

This was a nice, clean and comfortable place to stay. The hotel reception staff was wonderful! Easy walking distance to many places to eat, shop and sight see. I would stay there again!
