About Gran Hotel Ciudad De Mexico, Mexico City

Turn-of-the-century hotel and bar, steps from the main plaza

Based at the Zócalo

Gran Hotel Ciudad de México puts you in the southwest corner of the Zócalo, once the seat of Aztec civilization. Zócalo Metro Station is a 3-minute walk, and the Casino Español de Mexico is 2 blocks away.

Art and architecture

A 10-minute walk from the hotel, Museo Templo Mayor features exhibitions about the Aztecs, and you can also view partially excavated ruins. The nearby Palacio de Bellas Artes is one of the country's most important cultural centers, and the home of some Diego Rivera murals.

Tiffany glass and iron

Built in 1899, this building features an Art Nouveau glass ceiling and wrought-iron details that make it a popular space for weddings. Terraza Restaurant & Bar serves up authentic local cuisine with a stunning view of the square, and a breakfast buffet is also available.

Antique with modern flair

Guestrooms feature classic decor and antique furniture along with LCD TVs, WiFi, and minibars. Guests appreciate the air conditioning during summer months, and the sweeping views of the square in the suites might entice you to upgrade.

Avoid Chain Hotels For A Better Experience
Even if you have priority reward points at other chain hotels, this hotel is the place to be. The service was remarkable and the room was fresh and tidy each time we checked in! We also loved how well most staff members spoke English--each with consistently outstanding service from the time they greet you before you even enter the hotel property. I exited a taxi with several bags a few feet away, and a gentleman in a felt hat and red suit was just the beginning of our vacation. We had champagne upon arrival while checking in. The gourmet chocolate and lush robes were as much a delight as the surrounding architecture and present security throughout. The first day might seem overwhelming if you are new to the grandeous zocalo area, but it is fine to explore throughout after you get settled. Feel free to ask the staff for advice on dining or security off-site after hours even if it's just to buy a snack for your sweet tooth. The staff always went above and beyond to meet all of our vacation needs!
