My wife is particular about hotel rooms and found the Prospector to be an excellent place to stay. We loved the room and the restaurant. We were only there for an overnight stay, but enjoyed it very much.

Stayed three nights as I was hiking in Great Basin and this was the best location available. The room was excellent...spacious, modern, quiet and very clean. Staff was very friendly, helpful and accommodating. Mitch the maintenance chief was great. Had a shrimp dish in the restaurant one night...very good with fast service. The only negative for me was the overwhelming smoke smell when you entered the lobby. Overall, very nice stay.

6/10 Good

Still my go-to place in Ely but this stay didn’t measure up. Hot tub was out of service, typically rock solid (hot, always works, awesome after a full day of driving) - not to be this trip, no notification until you see the sign on the pool door and get depressed. I can also take or leave the expanded bar, old one was fine and comfortable. 2x the size now but not staffed 2x, bartender was overworked. I plan to stay here next time I’m around though.

8/10 Very good

The hotel was practical for our purposes and was actually quite good for a small town like Ely. There were fires on the peripheries of the city and so the town was extremely busy with firefighters from all over converging on the town. Reception was helpful and the rooms were clean and accommodating. Some fixtures and fittings were a little dated, but were probably period correct. I had a good stay.

8/10 Very good

We stayed at this property several years ago and it was starting to look a little "tired". They have greatly improved the rooms however, our TV was not working properly. We asked the staff to take a look but the problem was not resolved. The casino was smokey at check in but we were amazed how fresh and clean it smelled in the early morning by breakfast time. The manager of the restaurant was delightful and she deserves a special thanks. Breakfast portions are hearty!
