Location, location, location!
The best thing about staying at the hotel on Comino is being able to get down to the Blue Lagoon befoe the hoardes arrive. The island itself is wonderful for swimming in the sea - both at the lagoon and on one of the hotel beaches. The hotel itself is ok - I was on a ground floor, sea facing view but once the umbrellas were up in front of the room, then you couldn't see much of the sea... The room is basic. No kettle which means you can't make a cup of tea or coffee in your room. I hadn't realised how much I would miss this till I didn't have it. No plug in the bathroom sink. Bring your own face cloth (and plug!) Room over run with ants but to be fair reception lent me a can of bug spray which got rid of them. Food - breakfast was ok, not brilliant which put me off going into the restaurant for either lunch or dinner (at 25 eurospp I thought it not eorth it. The ba food was not great and if more than 1, likely to get the order wrong. All said and done, I would go back - a very friendly atmosphere and swimming in the Blue Lagoon at 7:30 in the morning was the highlight of my 3 week vacation. Be aware that you catch the boat to the hotel from the end of the pier and clearly marked for Comino. Make ure you get that one and not one of the day trp boats. If you have a car, there is plenty of parking on the Malta side but on Gozo you need to find somewhere on the street. Don't park in a tow away zone or you will have a 200 euro cash fine + 15 euro pd. An expensive mistake

Get a sea view room- definitely worth it.
We caught the 16:45 hotel ferry from Ciwekka (make sure you get hotel boat- €10 euros on the bill on checkout includes ALL crossings to/from Gozo and Malta on hotel ferry during your stay. We had a lovely crossing inside the cabin as the weather suddenly changed and we had a deluge and lightning. Arriving at the hotel was like stepping back in time to an old fashioned hotel where you are welcomed like regulars (many guests seem to be return visitors in any case) We were on half board and had a sea view room (definitely worth the little extra). The room had everything we needed (tv, fridge, three pin English sockets, air conditioning albeit quiet loud) and the king size bed was comfy, even if it was two singles put together. Not the best shower in the world but adequate. The breakfast buffet was adequate but food doesn't seem to be refreshed in the time it's open (7.30-10am) so the baked beans and poached eggs left at 9.30 were definitely past their best! The only fruit available was tinned except on the third morning when there were apples and kiwi fruit. Dinner was better, with a large choice of hot/cold dishes and desserts, as well as local cheese and biscuits. The wine list had lots of local Maltese wines. The island is so peaceful and I think people should take the hotel as it comes....if it is updated/upgraded then it will probably lose its charm and become like any other .....enjoy it while it lasts!
