Frustrating
Arrived close to midnight and found out they did not have my reservation, not sure if this is an issue on the hotel’s part or hotels.com. But the front desk staff was unapologetic about it and said there were no regular rooms left with a king bed which was specifically reserved. As I’m at the desk trying to figure out what to do and seeing if there’s another hotel around with a king bed, he tells us he’ll give us a discount on a “special” room with a kitchenette (which we stated we didn’t care about) with a king bed for a bit higher price than my original reservation. We made it VERY clear that it needed to be a king size bed as we are both very tall. So we pay and head up to the room only to find that it is definitely not a king bed and appears to probably be a double. We go back to the front desk and he actually argues with us trying to say it’s a king. Didn’t think I’d ever have to carry a measuring tape with me to hotels but I guess I will now. At this point it’s after midnight and we’re exhausted so we went back to the room and decide we’ll have to make it work. The kitchenette furniture was super beat up and dusty, and there was no fitted sheet on the mattress, only a protective cover, so we had to sleep on top of the top sheet. The bathroom was clean at least. But extremely frustrated that I ended up paying more for a room that was lacking the one thing I needed.
