Check in colleague was friendly and we were given a free upgrade to a club room, although we couldn't see much difference in it. For a 4 star I was expecting slightly more but for the price and location it wasn't bad. The bed was too small, smaller then a standard double. Overall it wasn't a bad stay - just kind of meh.

Great for solo travel
Best hotel welcome by staff-Nicole and Shimoon. Location is great for transportation-between 2 tube stations, bus stop a stones throw and 1 block from a busy street full of market stores, ethnic restaurants, souvenirs, etc. Easy walk to Paddington Station.

Excellence exceeding tight spaces
I required a 1 night stay close to the Royal Albert Hall. Hyde Park international provided that at a competitive price. The desk employee Nicole was extremely helpful, by letting us check in early and also upgrading us to a club room. She also allowed us to park for longer in the designated area without additional payment. Top service. My only negative comment would be the size of the rooms. Very cramped in moving around.

Padlock on bedroom French doors
I chose this hotel because it specified bath or shower for the choice I took. I then found they’d given me shower only then they told me the hotel website was wrong. I stood my ground as I was right so I ended up in 2 room during my stay. Yes had a bath but the first had a padlock doing up the French doors! When I bought this ti their attention they excused it on the grounds it was a period hotel! Terrible! I also thought for a 4 star the tiny staircase (4 floors) was creaky and inadequate and the lift was rickety the Man behind the desk was lovely but he could only do so much he did apologise and was nice but the hotel was shabby and poor.

Excellent location
We heard lots of banging and noisy footsteps from room above and adjoining; voices also carry. Also noisy as we were opposite the lift. Light in bathroom not working on arrival but fixed same day on request. Drain smell in bathroom. Towels changed daily even though we didn’t leave them on the floor to indicate this. Reception service always excellent. Nice to have fruit on arrival and daily water. Excellent location for tube, Paddington and restaurants.

Great location and good price. Room smell was very unpleasant, seemed to be coming from the drain in the shower. Thought it was just in my room but when speaking to another guest it was the case in their room too. Everything else as expected for the price paid

Deceiving - THIS HOTEL IS NOT AA 4-STAR!!!
Key card stopped working and had to keep going to reception (at least 3 times over the 2 day stay). The 2nd time I had to wait half an hour for someone to turn up to reception - UNACCEPTABLE. When I challenged the evening receptionist, he just gave me excuses and no apologies. There were at least 2 other people also waiting to check in. Room ensuite was not clean and the drains smelt terrible - it was nauseating. Its safe to say, as a solo business traveller who stays in london every week, I will NOT be staying at this hotel again and will NOT be recommending! I also think that the AA 4 Star rating needs to be reviewed. It may have been once but it certainly is not now!!!
