Old Hotel
Great location but the hotel is old and needs an update. The room was very warm and there was no temperature in the room. Even with the windows open.

Great value
Hotel Lancaster was a great value. The bedroom and the bathroom were very clean. The staff were hospitable and the location was fantastic. The only problem was that the bed was a little bit hard.

decent hotel, great location but rooms lack decor
was upgraded from a single with share bath to a huge double with bath, loved the huge tub, bed was comfy ,big tv if that's important to you. What I did miss was a bit of pizzazz. In a word the room was quite bland but aside from that -great location, very clean ,nice bath products, hotpot and tea and coffee in room.

Historic Building with Historic Toilet Facilities
Everything about the historic building and location was good. Lovely staff. Very close to parks, tube, and British Museum. Can store luggage if you check out early. Major issue: it is not exactly clear on the booking page that the toilet is communal. Yes, your toilet is not in your hotel room. Strange enough there’s a sink and shower, yet you have to walk out of you’re room to use the actual toilet. If you’re ok with this, then it’s a bargain. I wasn’t and felt a bit hoodwinked.

Nice value, nice location
I was traveling to London for the World Chess Championship and to see the British Museum, and this location was perfect It's a great little hotel. Very good value for the price. Yes, the toilet is in the hallway, but it's a nice one and it was never occupied as the hotel is pretty small. And you still have a sink and shower in your room, so it's far less inconvenient than you might think. My room was in great shape, and everything was clean. The street was quiet, and the staff was all very nice to me. I ate the continental breakfast one morning, which was pretty good. I would definitely stay here again. It is a good value for a place that hit the mark it was aiming at.

Just OK
Location was fine but not only was the communal bathroom not great my room was often hotter than the temps outside. They do give you a small fan but it is pretty average quality.

Great place to stay
This location is wonderful - so close to the Tube for easy access from Heathrow; and if you like to walk, it's a great neighborhood to walk and dine in, as well as being right around the corner from the British Museum. The weather was really warm when we were there in July, and there is no air conditioning in the hotel, but that's how it is in most of London, so it's no reflection on the hotel. Clean, spacious room, friendly front desk. We had a great time.

Stayed at this hotel for only one night. I did not realize I had booked a room with a shared WC. That was a unique situation and one I was not entirely comfortable with, but it was my own fault for not realizing it when I booked. Otherwise, stay was perfectly comfortable.

Just fine
The hotel was nice enough, but there was no a/c, the bathrooms were shared with the five or so bedrooms on each floor, and there were many stairs. Overall it was a nice enough place and you cannot beat the price. But we did spend 30 more pounds the next day for a nicer hotel.
