Clueless barkeep didn't know whisky, room to match
I was incredibly disappointed with this hotel. The hotel staff was accommodating enough once we checked in, but all of the things I had asked for - and even phoned ahead to confirm - were ignored. Thus the room we were given was quite substandard, I felt like we were stuffed in an empty closet. The beds were hard and outdated, and I did not sleep much. The bar had a measly selection, which I found sad considering the possibilities for a place that size. That is to say nothing of the staff in the bar. The so-called 'bartender' knew nothing of the whiskys he was serving - saying he 'shoots back' all whisky - whether it's a fine smooth 20 y.o. single malt, or a harsh Kentucky bourbon - because he "doesn't care about the taste" but prefers the effect. When I asked for a whisky he insisted I should have a liqueur instead of a neat dram. And I ended up having something I am familiar with instead of trying something new, and I had to re-peat myself when I specified no ice or water. In the end I took my drink back to the room because I did not feel comfortable drinking it in the bar. The breakfast the next morning was however quite decent - surprisingly.

Do yourself a favor, give this one a miss
The Decor was shabby and dated throughout the Hotel. The Hotel needs complete refurbishment and updating. TV channel selection was poor and the TV itself was an old box "Tube Screen" TV. The WiFi was nearly nonexistent in the room and in the common area. The food was dreadful, Especially the "full Scottish breakfast". I would not recommend this Hotel and I will not stay here again.

Find some place else. Picturesque but lousy.
Average hotel. Below average service (waiters at breakfast not at all interested in service). Hotel room had no heat. Told front desk - response was "most people complain it's too hot'. But I'll wager they don't do that at end of October. Upshot - they didn't care
