Fawlty Towers
We have found the real Fawlty Towers! Firstly, the staff was completely discombobulated. Didn't know how to complete the check in (we had to gently suggest that the check in completes with them giving us our keys). Then one of our rooms was still very obviously lived in, with room service sock, and underwear, unsaid beds, etc., but it hadn't been booked by anyone for days - hmmmmm. The carpets were disgracefully dirty and tatty, there was furniture piled up in parts of the hallway. It all left such an unsettling experience that my daughter, who is quite used to a range of hotel stays, was so unsettled that she could barely sleep all night. Then there was the restaurant service- basically similar - slow, confused, etc. Maid service in the morning was so early that it we were still dressing (at 8:00 am) and again, seemed confused that we were there. Thankfully we weren't still sleeping. So it is definitely a step up from a backpacker hotel. And if that's what you are looking for, then great! If it is anything better than that you want, then you may be disappointed. There was one silver lining- delightful Highland "hairy coos" in the pasture out front who were sweet like friendly dogs!

Personal Castle
The restaurant did not give us a bill/receipt. At check out we were billed for food on a day we did not eat in the restaurant. The matter was promptly fixed though. Never had any offer of help with luggage. The property is beautiful, the food was good. There were towel warmers in the bathroom.

Castle by the coast
Great value for the money. Not far from the airport and close to the ocean. Lovely staff and breakfast.

Nice and quiet
Wonderful hotel to visit. Very quiet place to rest and recharge. Dinner at the hotel was a nice experience, and we had the restaurant to ourselves. Breakfast was wonderful the next morning as well. Enjoyed sitting in the bar area after dinner. We even saw some deer the next morning grazing as we left. Overall a very lovely experience.

Old fashioned perfection.
If I could choose one place to stay in the entire world, it would be here. This is not a shiny, brand new, perfect place to stay. This is a perfect, quiet, well loved, lived in, place to stay. The bed is comfortable. The rooms are spacious and SO quiet. The food from the restaurants is delicious and well prepared. The bathtubs are perfect for soaking. The grounds are beautiful and peaceful. A "secret" path leads you through the forest to the ocean. The birds sing musically in the trees. When you stay here you feel like you have stepped back into a simpler, more peaceful time. Is every piece of furniture and paint perfect? No, but it's clean and taken care of. It doesn't have to perfect to be utterly perfect. I have never enjoyed a place more in my life.
