Oxford Night
We had one night in Oxford on our way from the Cotswolds to Heathrow Airport. This is a unique boutique hotel- it was the Castle prison ! The property has been developed elegantly but also with a taste if fun. Conveniently located where you can walk out into Oxford. Staff was great. I would definitely book again.

Very Good8.0
Great hotel in center of Oxford...
Cool idea of a covered jail turned into a hotel. Great location. HVAC was modest in a hot July in England... Daughter got creepy jail vibe from staying in three cells converted into her room...

Amazing unique prison hotel
Amazing hotel. Incredible experience! We stayed in a a cell room. Very unique and beautiful decor. Very comfortable and a truly great stay. Room was larger than we expected. We love Lamaison hotels - this one was top of the line for character. Bar was nice and breakfast was good. Truly a great experience!!

Family trip visit our children
Booked this hotel because our daughter in law recommended. She had stayed previously and is now going to Oxford University. Lovely, warm and comfortable clean hotel. Staff was amazing and within walking distance to our kids place and everything else. Loved it!

Second time, maybe last time.
I stayed here in 2015 and then again in 2017 (November) and it was great the first time. This time I had to walk up stairs, through a corridor, across a yard and then through two more doors to find my room. It's not great if it's raining. It's also very cumbersome if you have bags. The check in process takes way too long and they didn't tell us they would be charging us for the daily newspapers until check out. The wifi is just ok, not great. Food is ok, not great. I was in my bathroom and heard a loud bang and saw the handle for the heat control in the shower had just fallen off on its own. Also, the sink would not drain. I tried to take a shower and the water would not adjust and it was so hot, I was burned on my feet and still have painful blisters on my feet and I'm already back in the USA. I would stay here again, but the service staff needs some training.
