Embassy Suites Hotel Winston-Salem, Winston-Salem
EVERYTHING fell below expectations
If you are staying in downtown Winston-Salem, stay somewhere else. On our first night, the A/C was broken and every room was at least 75 degrees. They had 3 elevators but they were incredibly slow (annoying when you're on the 8th floor), and the door interiors were covered in rust. The foot was forgettable. The staff never told us about the breakfast/drink punch cards, then scolded me when I said I never got one. The pool was freezing (met the staffer who said it was at 78 degrees - the pool was not 'cold', it was FREEZING) and we had to go ask the front desk to get towels for the pool. The hotel had only 2 luggage carts to service the entire hotel. The entire interior of the hotel is old and outdated. Our stay was frustrating from beginning to end, enough so that we will never stay at this location again, and will give serious reconsideration before staying in an Embassy Suites again.

Never again
This hotel was in the down town area and when we got there it was around 12am. There were multiple police cars and drunks outside the hotel lobby. So we did not feel comfortable leaving our luggage on top of our car overnight for fear it might get broken into. When we got to our room we were going to use the couch bed as a bed for our son but when we pulled it out it was dirty with old candy and glitter everywhere. So he had to sleep on the unopened couch with old blankets that smelled rotton as well as the couch smelling too. The bathroom had sticky stuff on the pictures. The breakfast was mediocre and there were no places to sit when we got our food. We had to clean up a table with leftovers from someone else just to get a place to eat. The elevators were tiny so they didn’t hold many people and one of them was broken so it took even longer to get to the floor. When we checked out they did nothing to try to keep our business after telling them that their room was dirty. Parking was $10 to stay overnight. We had reserved a balcony room which we did not get. We had stopped here a a halfway point for our family vacation and had already booked it for the way back. Needless to say we cancelled that booking and went somewhere else on the way back home.
