DCU Rooms Glasnevin, Dublin
Dishonest ads, somewhat unclean and disorganized
The double bed was two singles pushed together that are on wheels and continually slide apart.... Given that we paid extra for a double and were looking forward to a cozy bed for two this was not only disappointing but also a lie on the ad. When we arrived it appeared that clean towels had not been provided and the cleaning staff had forgotten water bottles and cleaning supplies behind. The room was fine otherwise and the breakfast was quite good. Administration also seemed very disorganized. It seemed at all times they were putting out some kind of fire.. It took them nearly 10 minutes just to find my room key and I witnessed another guest full on yell at them because he stayed for 5 days and his room key failed to work every single day repeatedly. For a cheap private room it may be worthwhile but have your expectations low and call to ask about any bed bigger than a single because they are dishonest in their advertising.

The location was perfect, chose this spot because it was close to the airport for an early morning departure. Was somewhat difficult to find the building, signs near the street would have been helpful. The room was moderately clean, and the beds were tiny and creaky. Was a good idea, but would not stay again.

Clean and comfortable, but a little distant
These are very fine, clean, new dorms at a university. They're not too far from downtown and there's a nice direct bus line (several, in fact, such as the #4 and #9) that have frequent service to the city center. The campus has a very filling breakfast as well as a small grocery store. The staff are very friendly and helpful. Probably better to inquire directly with the university to save. There's not too much to do in the immediate vicinity. The university seems to specialize in sport, so there are lots of sport facilities on campus and nearby (a large soccer field, a big pool), but I didn't ask about access to them.

Typical college campus, though price is right
About what you'd expect for a college campus-- noisy at times, cleaning sporadic, accommodations spartan. Food vouchers for cafeteria breakfast are worth the value, though, if you like a big breakfast. Vouchers are worth 9 euros in items from cafeteria. If you eat very little for breakfast, you'll probably be ahead just buy buying items separately instead of prepaying for vouchers. Walk from downtown is several km away, though there's plenty of bus transportation nearby. I recommend eating at Anderson's Cafe, which serves cheese/deli/lunch dishes, as well as great coffee. Get the cheese plate! In all, I'd stay here again if necessary. Price was right. If you like being in the center, go with a chain.
