About Rixwell Old Town Hotel, Tallinn

Modern hotel connected to the medieval city walls
In the Old Town
Built atop the foundations of a medieval tower, the Rixwell Old Town Hotel is the perfect base from which to explore the charming old quarter of this Estonian port city on the Gulf of Finland. The newly developed waterfront area of Tallinn is just beyond the city gates, and the railway station is also close by.
Medieval and modern
The 12th-century St. Olav's Church is a minute’s stroll away, as is the Hobuveski, a squat, round building that served as a horse-powered mill in medieval times, but which has since been converted into a civic theater. Those with more contemporary interests will want to check out the Kumu Art Museum, which houses a collection of Soviet-era and contemporary Estonian art in a dramatic modernist building.
Free WiFi
The city walls incorporated into the building of this hotel provide a dramatic backdrop for the spacious lobby. Free WiFi is available throughout the hotel and the multilingual staff is available 24 hours to help you get the most out of your visit to Tallinn. Buffet breakfast is available for a surcharge and guests can unwind with a drink a the bar.
Comfortable rooms
Rooms at the Rixwell Old Town Hotel are modern and comfortable while still retaining the historic feel of the building. Cable TV and minibars are standard, and some rooms offer splendid views of the 120-meter-tall spire of St. Olav's.

Great hotel, great location
Hotel was in a great location and still in old town but away from the noisy center of old town. Loved the hotel except for the wifi. Wifi was fine in the lobby but spotty or not available in our room which was a dissappointment.

You Could Probably Do Better
Check-in was fairly easy. Given the room at the front, which was noisy both from the elevator next door but also from it backing up to a busy street. The room was very small and dated. The bed was not comfortable, and it kept sliding around. Wifi worked well, but the television selection was not good. Maybe more geared toward Russians, but some of the channels also didn't work. Did not eat the breakfast, but ate lunch one day at the restaurant, and it was awful. Very overpriced, bad coffee, and one of the worst pizzas I can recall eating anywhere in the world (horribly greasy, not all mozzarella as indicated, burned). The location wasn't that great. It is just inside the city wall, but you're at the far end of the old city. While that keeps it a bit more quiet, that also means you're pretty far from most of the attractions, restaurants and bars. Staff were professional and pleasant through the stay, and most spoke English well.

Very Good8.0
Great spot in Old Town
Great location in Old Town, inexpensive taxi ride from the ferry terminal. Great breakfast. The room was very small, but you should be out exploring Tallinn, not staying in your room! Thin pillows--I had to request an extra.

Functional clean budget hotel. Great breakfast.
This was a family vacation and we needed a family room for two adults and a 18 year old. There were three of us. The bathroom was shared, across the hallway as was the shower. It was clean, functional and within our budget. The location was excellent. The hotel is an old seaman's hotel, and therefore the budget rooms reflect this. Stockholm hotels are expensive, so this was a budget choice and as of such, it was adequate. Bare minimum. Had the feel of a hostel but comfortable and clean. The breakfast was excellent as was the service.

Hotel is at top end of old town, in a nice quiet area but walkable to all of old town. . I requested a room with a double bed but was given a twin, as i was travelling solo this was not a major problem. The room was nice and tidy but for me it was very hot.The breakfast was buffet style with plenty of things available to suit all. Free WiFi worked fine.
