A spoiler
Everything was great except for a fly during one of our four visits to the restaurant. But then again flies in the tropics is impossible to avoid completely.

A well managed hotel
Property is a bit dated but management has a pretty strong handle on the overall look and feel of the hotel. Its located in the heart of the city center, pretty convenient.

Poor2.0
Bad experience with customer ser/ greedy manager.
Not good experience with the manager who refused to give a good rate despite I lost 2 days in checking in. She wants to charge more and without breakfast from original rate. She is greedy.

First class hotel in a great location
This is a genuinely excellent hotel, especially the staff who were polite friendly and wholly professional. The view out over the bay was just awesome.

Brilliant hotel
We loved this hotel. The staff bent over backwards to help, particularly when we had difficulties confirming a tour we'd independently organised, to climb Mt Kinabalu. The room was excellent, and extremely comfortable. We had floor to ceiling windows facing over the water, for a spectacular view. The only downsides were the terrible fishy smell wafting across the hotel entrance, from the night market on the opposite side of the road, and the hotel is in a central, but fairly unappealing area. However, these two points are no reflection on the hotel, which we thought was excellent. It's a short drive to the jetty for transfers to the islands, best taken by Uber, as our 10 minute drive cost twice what our Uber drive from the airport took, which was probably 4 times the distance. (It was still quite cheap though, by British standards.) Breakfast was great. We didn't eat at the hotel, but the staff offered us good recommendations for restaurants.
