We really enjoyed this hotel. The reason we booked this hotel, other than the great price, was it's proximity to several different Tube Stations and it's close access to Hyde Park. Once you enter the lobby you will see its quite up to date with a beautiful reception area, a bar and a restaurant which offers a buffet breakfast in the morning. I cant remember if we had to pay extra for the buffet or not but it was quick and convenient and allowed us to get a little nibble before starting our day. The selection was fair and service was friendly. Now once you start going up the stairs things get weird! There are tons of different landings and finding our room initially was difficult and confusing so allow yourself some time to acquaint yourself and know that you might have to carry your luggage up a couple steps. The room itself was cozy but overall nothing special. Bathrooms are tiny and so are the tubs/shower which made it very difficult for us (we are 6'6" and 5'8"). Each room had a tea kettle and TV. WiFi was spotty in our room but better when we sat down for breakfast at the buffet. Overall we would definitely stay here again due to it's lovely and quiet location. We particularly enjoyed mornings in the park.

Our go to hotel!
Love Lancaster gate. It’s our go to hotel every time we visit London.

Traditional British elegance at a great price.
Rooms were much nicer than photos showed—a sense of old British elegance we hoped for but did not expect would exceed our expectations. Even the breakfast was excellent in every way. Service was perfect. Hallways were even very nice. We had 2 rooms, one with the older British style on ground floor and one updated room on floor 4. The updated room was sunny, tastefully done without being stark, and the inlaid wood on doors and closets showed it’s quality. Both rooms had different styles but well done. The only possible recommendation I would have is that the seating lobby area does not quite match the warmth and stateliness of the rest for its price point, although the fresh hyacinth smelled wonderful. We loved the area and walk along Kensington Park to the hotel—beautiful area.

Lucky turn of events
Very affordable, very convenient location (steps from the bus stop!) Our original hotel did not have functioning wifi and we ended up on their doorstep. It was a lucky turn of events as this hotel is much nicer, cleaner and actually cost less! Good restaurant and just a short, lovely walk to Kensington Palace!

Fair 4.0
The room was barley the size to fit one person. No room in bathroom for a tube of toothpaste to sit next to sink. Overall this was a disappointment especially since we have stayed at this hotel 3 times before.

Typical mid level hotel experience
Older well maintained hotel. Staff was friendly. Room was on the small side but adequate. Bathroom was older but clean, had typical amenities and even had a tub. There was nothing great about this hotel but nothing bad either. The area around the hotel felt safe. There were tons and tons of choices for food, shopping, sightseeing, and public transportation options nearby. We walked over from the tube stop and it only took about 10 mins with our luggage to reach the hotel.

Thank you but no
We stayed in a few places in London throughout our travels and while we understand the city is old with many older boarding houses turned hotels, some have updated and this one had not. Very still mattresses and the faucet sprayed the walls of turned too high. For the amount charged I would not stay here again. There are more comfortable options at this price point.

Overall good experience
Hotel was older, but definitely fine. Room was on the smaller side, but it worked. We were within 10 minutes of a tube station. The room was quiet. We paid for the breakfast, and it was what yoy would expect from a typical English breakfast. I would stay again.
