Unfriendly, unprofessional. Diamond stole by staff
I had a terrible experience at my Cosmo hotel. I stayed for 6 nights, and on the second night, l left a 0.75 carat oval diamond on the table and forgot to put it back in my pocket the next morning. After we got back to our hotel room after dinner, the diamond was gone. We immediately brought it to the night manager's attention. After checking the hotel surveillance, it was quite obvious that the housekeeping lady stole the diamond since she's the only person who had entered our room during our absence. Night manager called the housekeeping lady and, obviously, the lady said she had not seen the diamond nor touched anything on the table. We reported to the police and it was no help either. Night manager said we could talk to the housekeeping lady next day when she comes back to work. So next morning I went down to the lobby, but the day manager was reluctant to let me see the housekeeping lady; he insisted that we call the police instead. After pressuring him for about 10 minutes, the day manager finally gave in. Long story short, I talked to the housekeeping lady in person. She denied she had anything to do with the stolen diamond, but she looked really suspicious to me. The amazing part of the story was, the day manager chose to believe the housekeeping lady's innocence and did nothing else to look after the interest of the customer! Three words to sum up my experience: unfriendly, unprofessional, unreasonable.

Exceptional 10.0
Excellent hotel and location to see Hong Kong
Spent 9 nights at this hotel visiting Hong Kong during March 2017. The hotel is ideally situated on Hong Kong island in the Wanchai district. As a result, all public transport is on it's doorstep and this made it easy to get around. Whether it be on the public bus network, MTR, tram or taxi, the hotel had it all for ease of access. The hotel also provided regular free shuttle bus services to different areas on Hong Kong island (i.e. Hong Kong Station, Causeway Bay, Hong Kong Convention Centre and Admiralty). These were provided by its sister hotel, the Dorsett, which was only a short 2 min walk down the hill from the Cosmo. For anyone wanting to see the sights, this hotel is perfect for doing this. The hotel itself was clean, tidy and the staff, from check-in to check out, were most helpful and attentive to our needs. We were given a room on the 9th floor and had a lovely front view room overlooking the skyscrapers in the distance. The room was comfortable as were the beds. They were cleaned daily without any problems. Everyone had use of a handy smartphone in their room. This gave you unlimited free 3G data whilst out and about. You were also able to use it as a wifi hotspot so I used it to connect to my personal smartphone to avoid any roaming data charges. Ideal for Google Maps to find your way around. Free wifi was provided in the Breeze. This was a patio area on the 5th floor. Tea, coffee and fruit were also provided here free of charge for all guest

Poor 2.0
This is not a 4-star hotel and the pictures do NOT show the real deal. We arrived late at night from Sydney and checked in. We basically cried when we got our room. Family room with no windows, there were blood stains on the curtains, mold in the room and so disgusting. We went down to reception and told them that we wanted to check out as we can not stay. As it was late at night the lady in the reception was very helpful and said they might have a room in their sister hotel Dorsett next door that we might get but she needed to confirm the next day. We had to stay for one night and nobody wanted to get out of our cloths to sleep in the beds. Taking a shower was not even to think about as they were so filthy. Woke up at 6 o clock to go down and check. She said they had a suit that we could get, and they would put in extra beds but needed to confirm it with her manager. At this point I would pay anything to get out of this hotel. This is inline with a 1 – 2-star hotel. The only good thing in this place is the helpfulness of the reception to get us out of this hotel.

Very Good 8.0
overall nice stay, with some challenges faced
Stayed with my family for the weekend. Location was about 15-20 mins walk to the nearest train station. There is a free shuttle bus provided, but traffic could be unpredictable and we waited almost 20 mins later than the scheduled time when coming back from Times Square in the evening. Location was also not that good to get taxis, sometimes waiting for long, although the hotel staff were helpful to wait at the roadside to help flag down, but no taxis come. In other words - I would except to be able to walk to the nearest train station for convenience if staying here. But I was with my parents who could not walk as much, so we had to have long waits for transportation. The buffet breakfast was decent, and the staff serving were very happy and welcoming and pleasant to assist. I think this was the best experience staying here. The rooms were very clean and decently comfortable for Hong Kong size. We stayed at the studio which had a separate partitioned single bed and two toilets. The main unpleasant experience was that we got locked out of our room as the door lock got spoilt and was not able to be opened, until the hotel manager came which was about 10 mins later, and it took a few hours for them to fix the lock again.

Honest review from experienced traveler
Read mixed reviews before booking but here's the bottom line. Good location, good access to trams, plenty of cheap taxi's right outside, Happy Valley Wednesday night just across the road. If you want to see the City with easy access to everywhere, the Cosmo is perfectly located. Rooms are small and a bit tired but perfectly adequate for a short stay, I was there 5 nights. Staff are polite and helpful, breakfast was served in the Cosmo (not next door) as many reviews stated so this must be a recent change, breakfast is Ok not the best, not the worst. Most HK Hotels charge 200/300 HKD for breakfast so to have it included in the room rate, worked for me, we were 2 so saved Hundreds of HKD over 5 day stay, which we then spent on having fun. The cemetery behind, which is criticised in some reviews is a wonderful and fascinating solution to what must be a bit of an issues given the number of people living on the relatively small lump of rock, just can't understand some reviews criticising to view over the cemetery from some rooms. If your not happy ask for a room facing the front, you can't see the cemetery from any of these. This Hotel is closing Next year for Re-Furb, when It re-opens I'm sure prices will rise, I got a great deal and was very happy with the Hotel and the value.
