Old-fashioned style
We picked this hotel because of free and easy parking. It’s much more. Area is so-so but grounds and pool are lovely. The hotel is old school which we thought was perfect for Sicily. Everything works- bathroom with tub was nice, towels and linens top grade. Staff is very helpful and dressed snappy. Breakfast is like all other Italian hotel breakfasts — lots of sweets and breads and a coffee machine that while quick, is not like a real Italian cappuccino in the morning. Great value for the price.

Good hotel with free parking
Only stayed here one night but had an enjoyable stay. Room was nothing special but it was comfortable enough with a nice size bathroom. The food in the restaurant was good although there was not a big selection. Parking at the hotel was free which was a plus. The hotel is out of town but it was an interesting half hour walk to Ortygia. We would stay here again.

The Grand Budapest Hotel in real life
Did you enjoy Wes Anderson's The Grand Budapest Hotel? Then you're sure to enjoy your stay at this magnificent 19th-century hotel and all the old-world luxuries you thought had disappeared. It's a lovely place and the staff is friendly and attentive (plus they wear the old-fashioned uniforms!). Sure, the wifi runs as well as you'd expect if it were steam-powered, but the hotel is a slice of history--apparently Winston Churchill loved it there--and its grounds are sublime. Don't forget to take advantage of their happy hour and fill-up with complimentary Sicilian fritters--we did in lieu of dinner one night and no one gave us a dirty look.
