Excellent hotel. Great location. All new and very clean, stylish. It is great to stay at Avenida Liberdade. But there are not as many restaurants at walking distance as one might think, and certainly no convenience stores anywhere near it (I like to buy plenty of water, Coke Zero - and good bar soap - instead of paying for the hotel ones), but it was not easy. Except for breakfast, it hardly feels like we’re in a hotel at the NH Liberdade. I mean, we don’t really see people. Reception is minimalist and the hotel occupies just the upper floors of the building; so we normally don’t run across anyone. I’d say this is good, and gives a sense of peacefulness and privacy. Rooms are spacious and good-taste. They offer pillow choices but I (the most demanding pillow person on Earth) likes the standard ones. Bed was a little hard - no pillow top. And air-conditioning was OK. Better than elsewhere in Europe but still not entirely satisfactory (Europeans don’t seem to like it, and the laws forbid their use from July until June, so any reasonable person will stay up all night sweating). But this one at least could be turned on and worked halfway through acceptable levels. Bed linen was very soft, 100% cotton, not like most hotels nowadays that use sheets that feel like paper or plastic. Most importantly: they gave us a generous early checkin. All staff very polite and friendly.

We had an amazing stay, walking distance to most places. Staff were friendly and accomodating, they even helped us book a tour.

A New Favorite Hotel in Lisbon
We travel a lot---more than 60 countries---and this hotel will be remembered as a favorite! We had a corner suite with a balcony. We could sit out there, sip our wine and enjoy a view of the river and the fortress in the distance. The room was very spacious with a desk area, a couch, chairs and still room to dance. There were large windows and a large sliding glass door to the balcony. The bathroom was also large. One of the best things was to go to the top floor where there was a pool, a wonderful bar and probably the best unobstructed view of the city. We loved this space and ended every one of our 4 days up there. This hotel is tucked back away from the street yet is in the heart of one of the most upscale parts of the city. We found the location to be perfect and had no trouble finding ways to navigate to all parts of the city. We had breakfast each morning on our own. The handiest place was directly below our hotel in a food court. We were going on an Oceania cruise after our Lisbon stay and I have to say that it was hard to leave this hotel. We loved it!

Sauna hot room and bad service
Our room was extremely hot at night. We put the air conditioning at a cool temperature before going to bed hoping to make the temperature more comfortable, however, the room got increasingly hot throught the night, and we kept trying to turn the temperature down and get some sleep. Un the morning we realised that even though we had set the AC at 12 degrees C, hot air had been coming out all the vent all night. Needless to say we hada terribleeep. upon complaining the next morning we were told that we should have called an engineer at 3 am (now, if we had done that we would be completely unable to sleep for sure!) and that as they could not verify our claim there was nothing they could do. Shocking attitude- air conditioning is something very basic a hotel like this should always get right!
