Convenient location for those on a budget
The Hotel Gardur was reasonable and convenient. It is a university dorm but is clean and modern. The stay included breakfast in a lovely dining room area. Free parking was available. Bars and restaurants are just a short walk across the park. It should be noted that the bathrooms and showers are shared (separate male and female).

Exceptional 10.0
Hotel Gardur was a really nice little place. While not large, the room had plenty of space, and a small sink. The shared bathrooms were always very clean and well kept. The hall was so quiet I had trouble believing other guests were present - until I saw many people at breakfast! The breakfast was really lovely and varied. The location is excellent - right next to the National history Museum and a great lake-park. It's a few minutes walking distance from the center of town.

Fruendly staff, good location
It was a little difficult to find when I first drove into Reykjavik, as it doesn't have any conspicuous signage. However, it was in a pretty easy location to reach the tourist sights in town and the restaurant scene. The staff was friendly and they had quite a good breakfast spread, with typical European fare. Ultimately, this is not a hotel, per se, as it appears to be a converted dormitory from the University. They do advertise that there are shared bathrooms, which are relative convenient despite being shared.
