Great hotel with great service
Great hotel with great service. We particularly enjoyed their spa services. They are top of the class. The only problem is parking at the location. The hotel parking was about 11 minutes walk away from the hotel. Not sure if anything can be done about this.

Comfortable
Comfortable but not outstanding. Two standard en suite twin rooms booked for one Saturday night for a concert at BIC. Proximity to BIC; excellent. Three adults in the party. Both rooms clean with all that you’d expect. One room, first floor overlooking the car park, had a shower over bath but could do with an extractor fan in the bathroom. Second room was a basement room under Reception: smarter shower room, but musty damp smell and noisy in the night due to movement from office behind Reception. It was close to a ground floor Fire Exit door and cigarette smoke came into the room from smokers - not pleasant. We only had breakfast which was good though it definitely wasn’t Alpen as stated on the menu.

Not the best
If you want a quite night sleep then don't bother. Windows are not double glazed so if you get a room at the front like I did then you will hear ever single car going past. Parking is expensive also

When staying at Durley Dean on arrival we were told the swimming pool was closed, which was the main reason we selected to stay at this hotel due to the pool access. We also added breakfast to our stay, which was very disappointing, the food wasn’t topped up and when it was you had to wait 15-20 minutes, the food was also very tasteless and salty.

Hotel good - pool and steam room disappointing.
Check-in and Check-out was easy. Our room was clean - some water stains on ceiling above shower but didn't really bother us. Net curtains were dirty but housekeeping changed them the next day without being asked. We had a twin room on second floor at front of hotel near a busy roundabout so there was traffic noise all day and late into the night but we still managed to sleep as we go to sleep late but it might be an issue for other people. Breakfast was good with quite a wide choice. This is a family hotel but they don't really seem to cater for families in the evening - it's a bit expensive. It would be good if they did a set menu of simple family meals (meat or fish, vegetables, salad, ice-cream, hot pudding, soft drinks) self-service buffet style, similar in price to breakfast. The hotel has a pool but some guests commented on how small it was. Disappointing that children are not allowed in pool after 6 pm. There were bits of black mould on tiles in pool and on some of the wall and floor tiles. Steam room had black mould on inside of the door on lower half. This put me off so only used it once. Staff quite friendly. They could make one of the ground floor rooms into family lounge / games room with tv, sofas, etc.
